The truth, linda is that some posters here disagree with you strongly with one difference. They occasionally kiss your butt and for that, they are allowed to post without being continuously harassed by you and Twelvepole.

Those would be people who aren't as RIGID as you are in their thinking and treatment of others.
Being civil to another person while disagreeing is an honorable character trait and not 'as$' kissing, as you call it. Sticking to disagreeing with the topic is easy to do....but some prefer to make it *all* personal and most times don't even address the topic....just deliver the personal insult.
While you joke after another has brought up someone else's drinking....while you join in on the uncivil statements made to others and laughed right along with them- cheerleading their rudeness......
But
it sure is different when a couple here have mentioned or asked you IF you're hitting the bottle.....you sure didn't find it humourous then. Nor when mention of your *other* daughter was discussed....you were more than a little sensitive then too.
You just lack the ability to put yourself in someone elses shoes.
But somehow in your eyes you see it oh-so-differently when it is used against those YOU don't like.
Take a look at your recent comments. Can hardly find a thread or barely a post from you and others that doesn't mention my name. Like you're obsessed with me. Making it ALL personal rather than disagreeing with a comment or statement I've made.
Just can't stand that one voice of dissent. Let's silence it by showing all the rudeness/meanness we can.
There are a handful of lefties here who do have the ability to disagree civilly.....it really is quite easy. Shows they are people of good will...and aren't filled with such unbelievable hatred.

IF???? Yes, it was totally addressed to you. You are incapable of being civil to anyone who disagrees with even one position you hold. Your posts time and time again prove that. And I'm not speaking about myself in this case. All who have posted here for any amount of time can see that you and I have had our issues....you and I have joked with one another...teased one another....and been at our wits end with one another.
But what I'm saying is there are those here who are more flexible in that they can basically disagree with anothers total political positions....but might just, once in a while, find a topic that they do agree on. And if and when that happens, it appears to me to anger you so much you just can't stand that some one can be civil to the one you hate with such energy - and so they then are honored with your snide remarks to them....for that reason alone.
You have added much over the years to these threads. I believe most who post here do. It provides the diversity that exists in our off-line worlds. I would never wish you ill-will. I would never wish you'd leave....as you have said you'd like to see me do. I don't hate you....I don't see you as an evil person.
I just disagree with your political positions - and you just can't have that - not for one moment.

Twelvepole, you followed and harrassed me over a year or more, accusing me of ripping off my customers and also accusing me of having someone else do all my posting for me when neither was true. I defended myself every way I could. What was I supposed to do? Give into your insults and lies? Run from the board in tears?
So I post a few facts about world affairs. I realize it jars your little world. Sometimes reality sucks. So be it.
Bitterness and hatred? Look in the mirror. I smile and laugh lots and at least when I do it, it's the real deal from my heart... not like some here.

maggie - I have stated on these boards many, many times I only control my own actions....my own words, my own behavior towards others.
I have never been attacked or treated rudely by twelvepole - even when he has disagreed with me on a political position. And yes, it has happened. So...my reaction has been to return the courteous treatment I have received. Same works in reverse for me with others.

NTS, I have stayed out of this cat fight, but if you want my views....
If things continue like they have on this board over the past few months it might not be bad idea. However I think things will settle down once the election is over and every one focuses on the holidays. Everyone on this board has their own opinions and most of us are either far left or far right on certain issues. It is these hot issues that seem to stir up most of the trouble in addition to the name calling.

It's sad that some individuals have to resort to their ultra-opiionated nonsense and insults. But that is the way it is here on this board now.
I can remember a time when people here would disagree, but at least have some sembelance of civility about it. Now it seems to be who can insult whom the most.
