I do agree that those few folks who chose to walk out had every right to do so, just as LR had every right to express her political opinion. I also don't think LR is any more concerned about it that Whoopi was a few days ago. It's not the first time she's expressed her opinions, and I certainly hope it won't be the last. If those folks who walked out weren't aware of her long standing dedication to liberal causes, too bad for them. I said they had a right to request refunds, that doesn't necessarily mean I think they deserve to get them. Tough luck, you pays your money and you takes your chances...

I still think anyone who'd pay almost 300 dollars to hear anybody sing is a fool who deserves to be separated from their wallet....

Prof: Desperato is one of my favorite songs and she always sang it very nicely. Now that I think of it -- would I really like to hear it prefaced dedicated to Michael Moore?
..Ruins the moment for me somehow!

Then I guess you could walk out...like I said, you pay your money and you take your chances.
If I were a Toby Keith fan, I'd figure if I was going to go to his concert, I could expect a bunch of right or wrong "patriotism"... knowing what I know about his not exactly hidden political views, if I didn't like it, I could either not go, or leave in disgust before the show was over. No big. It's my money. I'll spend it how I want. Just like the folks at LR's concert...

The good thing about all this is the hundred or so who walked early made it a bit easier for the 1600 who didn't to get out of the parking lot after the show.

Bill Maher was on Larry King last night and he has a term for all of this, he calls it "fake outrage" and I agree with him. He had many amusing things to say so I will put the link to the full transcript.

KING: What do you make of the girlie men comment? A comment he had made previously on Saturday Night Live?

MAHER: We talked about this issue before, called fake outrage. I mean I'm no big fan of Governor Schwarzenegger, but this is nothing. It's fake outrage. Anyone who really is outraged that at comment is a girlie man! you should wear a plaid skirt if you're outraged.

Just the way they were outraged at Linda Ronstadt the other night in Las Vegas.

KING: She praised Michael Moore.

MAHER: And people rioted at the Aladdin Hotel. And the Aladdin Hotel was like, you know what, we're not in the business of political activism. No, you're in the business of getting people drunk and losing the rent money.

And see, again, I have to say this is the difference between conservatives and liberals. I can't see liberals rioting if Lee Greenwood dedicated a song to Sean Hannity. I just think they would have went oh, that's nothing and they would have moved on with their life. It wouldn't have been a cause celebre.

To throw this woman out of the hotel without even letting her go up to the room and pack her stuff? It's astounding.

KING: And so Arnold was perfectly all right to make that...

MAHER: Of course.

KING: Didn't offend anyone?

MAHER: Fake outrage.

KING: Fake outrage.

MAHER: It's -- if anyone, I'm telling you, if they're really that offended at that, at Linda Ronstadt, at Janet Jackson's breast falling out of her thing, at the Dixie Chicks, any of this stuff, it's all on you. Because, this stuff is not really what is so important in this country right now. We have an ability to have in the room an elephant and a fly, and think somehow that they're of equal stature.

I agree they have their own politcal views, but people want entertainment...escape from reality...isnt that what concerts, vegas and fun are about?

Never minded when I see Sarandon and Tim Robbins speak out IN A POLITCAL FORUM, or something they are doing because they believe in it. But I am getting a little tired of the barage from entertainers of their political sweeps and pushes when they are supposed to be providing a distraction from so-called reality.

That was a good show, Kiara! I see on his website that Michael Moore will be on Maher's July 30 show.
