Bush said threats by Osama bin Laden to use weapons of mass destruction must be taken seriously.
Funny Bush didn't take any of the warning signs seriously before 9/11. Nice to know we have people in cabinet level positions that can not think outside of the box.

LOL - Yes, to give his whole statement on what he meant by that....not some distorted view.
And most others CAN tell the difference between taking a direct quote from an article when the statement was made vs posting one where the financial circumstances have changed from what the were 3 years prior.
But I understand....YOU can't see the difference....no surpise there.

Oh how quickly those who believe that craziness are to completely overlook clintons lack of taking action against AQ/binladen....when their attacks against our interests started in 1993 right though to them being a threat when he left office....2001.
And to overlook that he had FOUR chances to get binladen....and passed.
Then clinton's supporter [Berger] 'lifting' important security information about the situation in 1999 and making them 'disappear'....illegally.
You have no proof that the very relivant information was even passed along to the Bush administration from the clinton administration....making them aware of the seriousness of the situation. Nor proof that there was specific information that would cause a big red flag to go up about the dangers. All you have is 20/20 hindsight.
But....that won't stop the dems from the blame game anyway.

Uh, linduh, the BI-PARTISAN 9/11 panel said bush and clinton were equally to blame.
Now, I know you know more than they do but don't get so defensive when we mere peons would rather believe them than you.

And anyone taking the time to actually READ the commissions report will clearly see the 'blame' isn't equal at all.

I suppose you wanted Osama to write Bush a note telling him of their intentions:
Dear Bushy Boy,
On September 11, 2001 the Al-Qaeda network plans to high jack four planes and crash them into American landmarks. Try to stop us if you can.
Your friend,
Osama
P.S. If you come looking for me I will be the Starbucks in Afghanistan until September 20, 2001. After that time I will be staying with my good buddy Saddam.
Oh this happen because Clinton didn't tell Bush anything about the seriousness of Osama. Bush had his daily briefings. His staff had all the reports Clinton had. Bush just didn't listen because he was to busy focusing on Iraq.

This was taken directly from the report at the bottom of page 208
With this directive still awaiting President Bush’s signature, Secretary Rumsfeld did not order his subordinates to begin preparing any new military plans against either al Qaeda or the Taliban before 9/11.
President Bush told us that before 9/11, he had not seen good options for special military operations against Bin Ladin. Suitable bases in neighboring countries were not available and, even if the U.S. forces were sent in, it was not clear where they would go to find Bin Ladin.
