Very weak night. I did like bush standing in front of the screen like he was at a ballgame. Arnold is a much better actor.....

I was surprised at the luke warm response Arnold got. Arnold's was a better speech than Rudy's but didn't get near the reaction of Rudy.

I almost puked when the Bush daughters said they were working on the campaign because they just graduated college and had nothing to do. Didn't anyone suggest joining the military and going to fight in Iraq ?

Arnold is a moderate, and a no-no for the far right. One thing for sure is the production of this event is low compared to the democrats. Its like watching a b movie. When the keynote speakers in boston spoke people cheered, but tonight they just sit and clap....even as I write this. I would like to hear some issues, but its 9/11 9/11 9/11 9/11.........like a broken record.

You thought Arnold got a Luke warm response. You were watching a different convention I was then.

He is right about immigrants coming to America for the American Dream and you know they work hard to get it and most are successful unlike you and me who sit back waiting for the government to help us. We sit back and complain and they go out and find it.

Yes, you are talking about the protests they were weak. They said 800 protestors.

Now I am not partial I am watching this Convention and I also watched the Democratic one.

I haven't watched any of it. I've heard so much bs coming from them, what point is there in listening to more? The Democratic convention was awesome. I can't wait to see Bush take a hike.

Thought Arnold did a great job... if this was weak, you must of thought the demo convention was dead...

<--- Not sitting back waiting for anyone to help me .... but I hope you enjoy the wait Libra

Was it just me or did you really feel for Maria tonight... Not an admirable position for her to be in on national TV having to find a balance between being a democrat showing support for her republican husband. I thought she did it well.

As for the Bush girls ... Bad speech writing combined with horrible delivery to make that portion a complete embarassment. I have to say that Bush's intro was very sweet and using "Isn't She Lovely" as the music was a nice touch as well. That was the best piece of PR I have seen so far. (The in-laws holding "We Love Laura" signs earned a giggle too) )

It's just you, fenix

She knew his political party before she married him. She loves him and wants to support him....and did - no big deal. Just like Carville and his republican wife. Love conquers all.

And I will agree on the twins...that could have been left out....or done differently. The audience chuckled..but...

Marie has more class than Caraville will ever have.

She didn't look any different than she usually does. She is a classy lady and her class showed through tonight. There are many women and yes men that stand by their mate even if they don't see eye to eye. She knew when she married him that he was Republican as he stated in his speech he was a Republican from the get go and that was way before they married.

It's true many americans think that they are owed a living instead of going out working.

I didn't care for the Bush girls either but they are young and their speech writer was horrible.

And all we hear from Kerry is

"When I was a young man I served in Vietnam. So what is your point?"

Then KD you can't critique it. Everyone has a choice to watch or not and your choice was not to watch. That's the beauty of TV if you don't want to watch something you switch the channel, or turn it off.

Again blairwitch: You must have been watching a different convention. You missed Linda. She was the one standing with the sign 4 more years.

I think the Democrats would rather hear the raspy voice of Teresa and her outcries than
the soft spoken Laura. Fits their profile.

1) She married a republican actor, not a politician. You have to wonder if she would have taken that plunge had he been a politician when they met.

2) It's a difficult balance to find between supporting your husband as a speaker at the convention and not "betraying" your party, or become the bigger story. Notice that during the speach, she did not clap? Can you imagine what the spin would be had the camera caught her clapping?

Linda - somehow I don't the think Carvilles marriage are quite the saame as being part of the most famous democratic family in America. Can't you just see it the Fox trailer....Kennedy family member supports Republican platform at convention

Maria really is a class act. I have always liked her but tonighht she just reinforced it that much more.

You are finally right , Libra!!!!!!!

Democrats believe in sexual equality and admire strong, successful women with opinions of their own.

Laura is a milksop and probably shares your taste in girdles and bridge.

Do you need them to tell you what real class is?

You watch too much crap TV, Libra.

When couples get married they marry for love not political affliation. And yes the Carville's are just as popular as the Kennedy family only in a different way. Search James Carville and see all his accomplishments as they are many. Well one he can't be proud of is Zell Miller a Keynote speaker tomorrow nite at the RNC.

Crowfarm-I can just see you banging away at that key board with fire coming out your nose. I'll get that Libra this time, I'll show her. You just can't get over your 9% pay cut. BTW I will stop mentioning that if you will stop your name calling and your little innuendos about me. Fair enough...

Now, now crowfarm, didn't you hear I'm the one with no class because I watched MTV the other evening?

Unfortunately a few of the female posters here are jealous that I share my life with a rock star. Guess they expect me to be swinging to Don Ho and Tiny Bubbles like they are.

Crowfarm if you would read previous posts you will see I didn't watch MTV. As I only watch about 1 1/2 hours of TV a day and sometimes less, but that is none of your business right? So go back to your negative posting and enjoy your night....or what's left of it.

Slip a little Brille Cream on Arnold's hair, and paste a one inch mustache on him, and you will have Der Fuhrer!

Bush seems to think that he will garner the female voting block by bringing his wife there. Sorry, I don't think that women are that stupid.

I don't think he will get very little of the Black vote either.

He can kiss the Union vote good bye too.

I was watching the ABC Evening News last night, and they indicated that the second night of the convention would be the night to show compassion and inclusion. I wonder if that means the inclusion of the Gay Americans in the right to marry?

Bush can kiss my vote good bye, and something else too!

yeager: Ask not what the party can do for the gays; but rather what can gays do for their party?!

oh yeah, and can we get this thread back on a more interesting topic here? Like ME?? Otherwise, I am just not going to contribute anything. I got anthems and rock songs to sing like twisted sister, ok??
- And dont tell me that went out in the 80ties or some crap because I've been around rock along time and when it comes to that, [and I know you are all very jealous] but I know what I am talking about way more than all of you. I lived with Michael Jackson for two years and Mick Jagger for five! In fact, I inspired the sympathy for the devil song and the whole goats head soup album too!!!!

neroter - You started my day with a good laugh.
--------------

yeager - He can kiss the Union vote good bye too. Ugh...no. Many people only join a union because they have to in order to get a job. The unions will throw their *support* behind a candidate of their choice, but they don't get to vote for the individual union members. Sorry to disappoint you....but a large percentage of union workers vote republican.

your ass or your face, what's the difference yeager? they both spew sh!t...

I have already noted how kerry will not get the black vote he will need to win, because a lot of blacks are against homosexual marriage... you discount their religous beliefs.

homosexual marriage issue will sink the demos in the south... watch.

What's your hang up on hitler? you get a woody just thinking about that guy? you have his picture in the basement with your old socks?

Libra - Yes, that was me with the 4 MORE YEARS sign FOR SURE!!! And I was also giving a standing ovation at many of the points he made during his speech.

------------

Notice that during the speach, she did not clap? Can you imagine what the spin would be had the camera caught her clapping?

I only noticed the camera panned her face and shoulders a couple of times....but did see her giving him a standing ovation and clapping at the end of his speech. Did that offend the kennedy's? If so, GOOD!

edited to add Arnold's speech, in case anyone missed it.

"Don't be economic girlie men".
