Helen: I understand that there must be some people who have been turned away. I'm just saying that I do not know of that in Texas. I have only medicare, no supplemental insurance. I am advised by my friends in hospital billing not to buy any, that it is a waste of money, and I will receive the same treatment as if I had supplemental. They write off the unpaid bills. As the old saying goes "you can't get blood out of a turnip". It boils down to this. The poor can't pay, but receive treatment free. The more affluent receive treatment and pay out the gazoo. Isn't this making the rich pay more as you say the Democrats want to do. It is just the way things are done in the USA, like it or not.

You have an arrogant little rant assuming I don't know border size or that I've never travelled south. I know you don't click on links but here is a map of North America for those who wish to check the size of the Canada/US border as well as the Mexican one. I am quite familiar with both.

etexbill, you pout and threaten to leave if the conversation includes politics yet you have no trouble adding them to your own posts. Almost every topic at the RT turns political."
OK, kiara: Good, you know geography. Then why do you bring Homeland Security and President Bush into a thread, when you know there is nothing we can do to completely protect our borders short of building a wall or electric fence. And wouldn’t you holler if that happened! And, I have not added anything to posts that are political in the RT unless they have turned political from a non-political subject. I have only posted to two threads on the RT since I left because of the political rantings. And those two had nothing to do with politics until someone came in to change the subject.
That said, here is what bugs me about you. You have every right to post here, but you are obsessed with US politics, of which there is nothing you can do because YOU CAN’T VOTE. Why don’t you discuss the rest of Canada’s provinces gripe with French speaking Quebec, or your Prime Minister what’s his name ( I’ll venture that 90% of Americans don’t even know your Prime Minister’s name). Or discuss the price of food in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. You know why? Nobody cares! And the only way you can feel important is to butt into US politics. Now, Canada’s lousy postal service is being discussed over in the EO. Why don’t you go there and get into something that concerns you.

I really don't understand that attitude that no one outside this country should discuss American politics. Kiara's comments are intelligent, thoughtful, respectively delivered and her good judgement is appreciated by many Americans on this board. If she can't vote, perhaps she will influence those who do. Is that what you right wingers fear?

etexbill, how the hell do you know I can't vote in the US?? You know nothing about me. Or is that another arrogant assumption like I've never seen the southern border?
FYI, I spent years at the EO and when I admitted I now lived in Canada I was blamed for every silly thing every Canadian did on ebay and I got fed up with it. Other posters were too ignorant to realize that Canada is the 2nd largest trading partner on ebay so of course that would be the country they have the most problems with if they ship internationally. Canadians have the most problems with US sales as that's their prime market but you don't see them pissing and moaning and starting threads about it. If I mail from Canada I can get a package to Japan or the UK in 4 or 5 days and to most places in the US within a week.
I realize that most posters here don't know the name of the Canadian Prime Minister or anything else about Canada so of course I don't start threads about that. There is no interest here for Canada. I spend a good part of each week in the US, I sell out of the US and Canada. I use their banks and postal systems as well as Canada's. The US is a giant and whatever happens politically affects Canada. Some of us have dual citizenship. Some of my family and friends want me back in the US and I'm trying to decide whether to move there to be with them. Okay?

My mention of illegals getting free health care is one of the reasons our medical care costs those who do pay more. It's not a discussion about borders....it's on topic, one of the reasons our own health care is so expensive. -------------
I believe many of those who say 'I can't get medical care since I can't afford to pay for insurance is they don't take the time to inform themselves of all the free medical/government programs that are there. They might not be taking the time and calling the agencies that help those in need.
Like in my little town it's not advertized, but it's available, that there is a once-a-week free clinic where all the doctors in town with varying specialities see and treat those who can't afford medical care. They also point these people in the right direction to get government assistance if needed. This not only helps the people but it reduces the number of those who use the emergency room at our hospital here for small problems that aren't emergencies.

Since they do cross the border hence the term "illegals" it is a discusion about borders or better yet the lousy security at borders.
Watch Lou Dobbs on CNN sometimes. He has mentioned the border problems with Mexico and the cost of health care because of the illegals. By the way, he is a Republican.

FWIW, I've seldom started a political thread since last May and recently I didn't post much to political threads at all. But now when I do say anything I am blamed for "going away" or accused of only "popping in" to give my view. The last couple of days I spent more time here so that's upset some of you. Trying to please anyone or everyone in this forum is a no-win deal so whether you approve of it or not, I will continue to speak up when and where and as often as I wish to on any topic I choose to. Until Vendio suspends me or I get fed up with the pettiness of some here, I will be here off and on. I don't see anyone else having their private lives delved into so much and I'm not questioning others about theirs. MYODB
