The religious bigots here always overlook kerry's deeply held religious faith [cough-cough]

They also don't appear to recognize that kerry's little stunt about Cheney's daughter...will hurt him more than the intended victim. It makes him look real small. And he could have chosen to just have made a general reference or use Dick Gephard's daughter as his example...then he wouldn't have come across as the 'below the belt hitter' he is. But after edwards pulling the same 'trick' and Cheney taking it as meant in a sincere way....I seriously doubt kerry's repeat remark would be seen in the same light.

And other religious news of the day is that we all know kerry's been attending church services which he uses for his political purposes. But it appears one pastor was aware of kerry's pattern....and set limits. Limits being set....kerry decides not to waste his time. He's such a sham.

Kerry cancels visit to West Virginia church

Huntington, WVUSA -

A visit to West Virginia by Democratic Presidential Candidate John Kerry has been put on hold.

Kerry was scheduled to attended services at the Apostolic Christ Cathedral in Guyandotte on Sunday. West Virginia Senators Robert C. Byrd and Jay Rockefeller were to attend with Kerry.
The church pastor, Reverend E. S. Harper, said they were not welcome if they planned to discuss politics during the service.

The Kerry campaign says the church issue did not affect the decision to cancel the trip.

The religious bigots here

Perhaps some don’t realize what the definition of a bigot is. In case you don’t know……

bigot

intolerant person: somebody who has very strong opinions, especially on matters of politics, religion, or ethnicity, and refuses to accept different views

Twelve, why would I or anyone be afraid of religion? And where did/do I ridicule religion? Maybe my questions seem lame but I'll always be curious about people's religious beliefs - especially the religious people that harm children, commit adultery, promote war, hate gays, judge others, etc. They're the ones giving religion the bad name. It's the ultimate hypocrisy and I don't want to be any part of that.

Oh twelve,

I forgot one more thing. Some people who are involved in religion think they can "speak in tongues." I have never seen this happen, but it goes something like this.

They go into a trance like state, then fall down onto the floor, start rolling around and instantly are able to speak this unheard of language. When the trance like state ends, they get up from the floor and return to the pre trance state. The strangest part of it all, is when everyone who watches this display know exactly what was said. Now how absolutely ridiculous is that?

Another religious BOOB is Benny Hinn. He is the guy on TV that says he has the ability to heal people just by touching them. With a simple touch of his hand, and while holding the bible in the other hand, ha asks god to relieve the person of this pain or affliction. As soon a this happens, the person is cured. Just think, no more arthritis, or cancer, or blindness. All by the touch of Master Healer Benny Hinn. If you ever see him on TV, there is a giant auditorium filled with people. What a crock!!

A little research on Benny Hinn indicates the following.........

Benny Hinn, [former] pastor of Orlando Christian Center in Orlando, Florida [the church was first re-named World Outreach Church, and then Faith World Church in 1999 when Hinn resigned from the pastorate and moved his "crusade and evangelism" ministry to Dallas] is one of the most prolific voices in the so-called "Christian" media today. [Hinn's "ministry" reportedly takes in over $100 million a year, which allows him to maintain a $3.5 million home, and to spend $8,000 on airline fares and stay in $2,000/night hotel rooms.

And they bit*ch about Kerry's and Edward's hair. How pathetic

1) Benny Hinn. He's a crook. It happens in any area. Actually even Jesus warns about fakes and crooks in at least two of the gospels (And yes, I do mean Jesus this time, not Paul!) A few rotten apples does not mean they are all bad. Between the money-grubbers like this guy and the oft-mentioned child molesting priests, I'd still say 98% of the clergy are good guys. I wouldn't give anywhere near such a high rating to politicians of either party. I certainly hope he is investigated by the feds soon.

2) Tongues. MY parents dragged me to a Pentecostal church for several years when I was in my teens. I thought it was a crock then, and I still do. If you see it once in your life, it might be a miracle, but when it happens five times in a church service, that's pre-arranged.

But you are partly wrong, not everyone knows what is said. There is always ONE person in the audience who can "translate" what was said for all the others. So even if you were to stand up and yell "googly boogly moogly woo!" someone could translate it into a Bible verse or something, and if you ask them later, they would claim that "googly boogly moogly woo!" actually means something in this obscure African Tribal language or something. Bullspit!!!

It's my understanding that a local attorney suddenly "got religion" after being told he had cancer. He went to see Benny Hinn, who "healed" him. Less than a year later, the attorney died from the cancer.

He apparently has a large following judging by the filled auditorium shown in the TV show. Why is it that in the year 2004, people can be so weak minded?

I truly don't understand why people would or could believe such nonsense. I can only guess when they want something so much, they will do almost anything to acquire it. That's why people play the lottery.
