Logan and Cheryl, are really surprised at the low class reaction from the neocons?

What low-class reactions, crowfarm???? This one Kim little who hardly post's here?

The only thing I saw all day was some repubs saying they were happy of their candidate's success for re-election. And Linda said you probably have a need to vent.

You're the one who would be so all in your face had Kerry won, you'd probably be repeating it in six threads or something. You're not right cf. You act like you care about people, and issues so deeply, but you see through skewered eyes.

"Afterall, after months of arguing have we ever seen a glimmer of humanity, kindness, a caring for anyone but themselves, a touch of compassion?" Who is Crowfarm talking about?

Now she is attacking Linda by saying those things about her son. That is cruel but I don't think you much care so why should we care about you?

Evidently the Kerry supporters didn't read the totals of the Popular Vote. Pres. Bush won that vote by over 3 million votes. That is more popular votes than any president has ever received. He must be doing something right OR the american people were scared of Kerry's "I have a Plan" statement which I feel he never followed through.

This question is for Cheryl. If Ohio is in such bad shape why was there any votes for Bush? Do you think Kerry would have done something which he never had solid plans for any of his promises. By the sound of your discussions Ohio was in bad shape and all because of Pres. Bush still he received enough votes to carry the state.

Remember "people think the grass is always greener on the other side of the fence"

Well said Helen. You hit the nail on the head. Most of our servicemen signed up for an opportunity out of their deadend town. They couldn't afford college or didn't want to remain "stuck" in the towns that provided little relief for poverty. I ask my friends who served or are still serving in the military and they say the same thing. It is a job that provides job security. They had very little choice, but to join the military. They put their faith in a system that would not only protect America, but protect themselves. they put their faith in the hands of people who should be making every concession possible to avoid risking American lives. That has not been done. Now we have over 1000 soldiers who will never return to their families, friends, and loved ones. We have over 10,000 Americans whose lives have changed because they no longer have an arm, or will never walk, see, or hear again. I know in my heart that this administration has no clue what that is like. Why? Because they were never placed in harms way, and when they had an opportunity to serve their country, they ran and hid by pulling strings. This administration is nothing but a bunch of cowards with a wall of the military and corporate greed and money to protect them.

My fellow Democrats...remember...almost half the country voted with us.. our numbers are strong.. and because of our strength in numbers, rest assured that, like eagles, we will keep a sharp eye on every move Pres.Bush and his administration makes....

And for those Gloating Republicans here on the RT... rest assured... it is now our (Democrats) turn to do the cutting and pasting... every time the news paper headlines tell of another atrocity, blunder, or screw-up, lives lost or a security breech etc..under this present administration... we will be there to c&p and remind you of what you voted for..

Perhaps we could form a commune in Canada.

Good idea. But you'd better start working on the process right away. From what I read about those 'angry dems' who are thinking about leaving and heading out to Canada...the Canadian government has issued a statement that the application process normally takes a full year.

And be prepared for MUCH higher taxes, and a not-so-hot government run health care. Plus good luck finding a job...their unemployment is much higher than it is in the US.

But we'll be glad to have a going away party....for anyone who truly does leave.

Here's the article I was referring to:

Libra

Northern Ohio went very heavily to Kerry. It was southern Ohio and the rural areas with the farmers and the southern bible thumpers that gave it to Bush. Ohio is vastly different from one end to the other. Northern Ohio is in very bad shape economically. It's a blue collar area that relies on manufacturing, especially steel for its livelihood. Kerry won in Cuyahoga County by 217,000 alone. The farmers are doing well and as you are probably aware are made up mostly of older Americans still steeped in old fashioned ideals.

Roadsmith

And although there was a huge turnout, it's estimated that only about 1 in 10 people between the ages of 18 and 24 voted, and 40% of eligible voters sat on their hands.

This speaks to the "apathy" I was talking about. If people are continuously bombarded with negative advertising and have polls done months in advance shoved down their throats every waking moment, they begin to feel "what the heck, my man isn't going to win anyway". The media and the way it's used has played a huge roll in this.

I am on to other things. Ohio will have a gubernatorial race here soon and it's time for both Taft and Blackwell to make an exit. It's going to be the next thing I work on. Taft has been of no use and Blackwell is a bigot.

I am not against Republicans. On the contrary. A middle of the road Republican is not a bad thing. I do, however, have a problem with someone who is so far to the right that if the world were flat he'd fall off.

As for Canada, you can check out this site:

http://www.escapeartist.com/canada/canada.htm

According to their Convention and Visitor's Bureau today, many, many Americans have been emailing for information on living there. This could very well be a boom to their economy.

BTW, it was kimlittle who started the nastiness. So I've reserved my snide comments for her.

As a matter of fact...now that YOU brought the subject up....YES you have been with me. Several times...but then you've also had times when you've been decent too.

But to pretend after all we see written here that the dems would be acting all high and might....is VERY funny. They struggle to be civil when they hadn't lost yet.

Great posts Rusty, Helen, Cheryl, etc. I know I've said it before, but you guys are just the coolest.

Cheryl, I thought about you all night when waiting for the word from Ohio. I imagined you biting your nails, rolling your eyes and thinking about how to avoid your brother. Hope you're OK!

I'm not going to avoid my brother. I so want the opportunity to tell him that he sold his youngest child's (6 yrs old) and his grand children's futures to the highest bidder. May God forgive him. To beat all, he's a Mormon. Oops, that explains a lot!

Linda

I wasn't nasty to you in this post and that's what I was referring to. I thought I commented on your reply about Canada very civilly. Can't you please move on?

oh no.. now they will fight and argue and stomp their feet in frustration because we hold true to our ideals and won't embrace theirs..
to bad.. so sad.. LOL... just remember...

Pres.Bush....Every move you make
Every vow you break
Every smile you fake
Every claim you stake

No, I fell asleep trying to hear what the final results were. I think it was about 2:00AM [my time] when they announced we weren't going to know for sure until today.

No swolen head though ...mainly just thankfulness. But there's no doubt I'm overwhelmed with joy that my choice was re-elected. And yes, I do feel much safer now than I would have under a kerry adminstration...for several different reasons.

I also prayed last night....'thy will be done, Lord...not my will'. And for the ability to accept whatever the results were when I awoke this morning. It was a VERY good morning.

How appropriate those lyrics are! We will not roll over and play dead. That is the difference between the republicans and the democrats. We are stronger and we will survive and we will live to fight another day. We remember the principles this country was founded on and we remember the sacrifices our founding fathers and the men who fought the Revolution made for our freedom. And, we hold true to them and the Constitution. Half of this country's citizens are going to be watching closer than ever now.

Sure we can move on cheryl. But I don't believe I was being nasty to you. I was commenting on how different I felt the dems here would be responding IF kerry had won.

So..you appear to be saying that I can only get nasty with you in threads where you're nasty to me. Don't think so...but again I don't believe I was getting nasty at all.

Not like you did the last time by blaming me for being the one who 'drove you away from posting here, not maggie - not bear or twelepole'.

And it was a post maggie had made that irritated you...[don't read 'drove you away'] I read it...and then you left. But once you began to see she leaned more left...rather than teasing/picking on all....then she became acceptable to you. And then you decided you'd blame me. I know you won't agree...this is just my opinion on what I saw...and how it came down...vs your recall on the issue of just WHO drove you away....but you won't ever let me do that again. LOL

Helen,

Most of the recruiters always promise you the good things - character building, travel and the ever famous G.I. college fund. With the economy the way it has been and the job market so poor, the military offers the "its better than nothing" scenario. So of course people will join.

Why should Linda worry about her son since she believes everything is so peachy in Iraq? If that is the case then she has nothing to fear. If she is just blowing smoke then she should worry.

No, I am not gloating, we went to bed about 10, not knowing whether we'd wake up to another 'Florida revisted' or not. Then we went about our everyday stuff, work, errands.

Yes, I voted for whom I thought would be best. It was my vote.

And yes, I am afraid of some kind of civil unrest. Don't know why, I've had that feeling for awhile.
