Linda said, "But imo, what we're talking about here...is putting words into peoples mouths. IMPLYING they've said things that have NEVER said.
But as usual, Only you continue to do EXACTLY what you describe above. ONLY YOU DO THIS, Linda. You give your baseless opinion on what You think others are thinking but have NEVER stated or inferred. I read the threads and KD said nothing to put down Christians.

KD - You've re-read them and you don't see where you've done that, huh?
Okay....I'm going to post what you said in just the one thread....so there's going to be editing coming...

Yeager, I believe these people honestly feel they'll get special treatment/blessings by God if they act this way - on earth and in heaven. Someone's brainwashed them, they brainwash their kids, and on and on. Maybe the sheep of the world aren't able to process much themselves so they turn elsewhere to find answers.

And for religion being bad for a person, I beg to differ. Religion REPLACES normal thinking as Yeager's article showed. To designate a certain day to drive or not drive because of something a book told you, and not because you logically came to that decision, is not normal behavior, and imo, this family needs help.
Nero I know enough about religion to know there's a big difference between it and God.

I see no difference between a small child saying they've been 'saved by God', than a KKK child saying 'white power'. The brainwashing in religion starts at a young age and provides only one side of the story. That can be detrimental to a growing child trying to survive in the real world, and mixed up children aren't usually prone to becoming doctors and lawyers.
If these adults want to live like that, fine. But don't plant this junk into your kids heads.

Nero, what's the point of not driving on certain days? What's the point in not eating pork? Whether it's religious tradition or not, these ideas are meant to control people who want to be controlled by someone other than themselves.
If a person needs God to figure out whether they need an abortion, blood transfusion, what food to eat, what to wear, who to vote for, etc., are they really in control of their own minds? What God would want people to think this way?
Yes, I think it's brainwashing - especially when started at such a young age. And yes, I think organized religion relies on brainwashing to get people to follow their rules-and the prize is you get special favours from God and a ticket into heaven if you follow these rules. I don't see any difference between organized religion and a cult.
Yeager, I agree with you about this (I agree with you on most subjects).

It's clear to me that the statement that you just posted is not a put down and I note how you have selectively bolded it. I'm sure that KD can explain it to you better than I can but I would like to comment. She said, speaking of EVANGELISTS....
One of the most bizarre things in the family was when the news journalist asked the daughter about her faith. She responded "that she was saved when she was three years old". Then when asked how she knew that, she told the journalist that she "knew it her heart". She also said that she "killed jesus" with her sins.
The final interview was with the mother. She was asked about her belief in the second coming of the lord. She indicated that she hopes that it would be soon because the world is a horrible place. She said, if the lord would come this instant, that would be fine with her.
End of Excerpt
This is a radical branch of Christianity and I'm not sure that most Christians would see it as typical. Kraftdinner can explain her statement better that I can but from my viewpoint she is showing compassion for these people as they appear to be victims to me. They are victims of brainwashing and will continue to be as their beliefs are passed from one generation to another. Kraftdinners statement is not a put down.
It's a compassionate evaluation....something that you are unable to see, linda.

Okay...other than you twice telling yeager you agreed with what he was saying...about they're cults...they're bigots...etc. That's what's from only ONE, very recent thread, where you make derogatory statements about people of faith.
I'm not going to argue with anyone who disagrees with my opinion. To me it's very clear.
Oh and one other thing....what I think you try to do is separate God from religion. One does not need to go to church to believe in God...and all faiths believe in their own 'take' of what and who God is, and what's expected of them. But they are not separate issues...they are very much tied together.
And although you've been asked many times, you never answer. You have said you believe in God, just not a religious God....I take that to be a 'higher power' or something similar, because I don't believe one can know God without some sort of understanding about just who God is....no matter the faith.

Thank-you Helen.
Linda, again, I'm against (meaning I don't understand) people who claim to be religious who commit the very "sins" they tell others not to do. I'm against people in general, who pass nonsense on to their kids and then wonder why everyones kids are screwed up. Especially a kook like in the CNN thread that used religion to promote some stupid ideas about how he and his family should live.
I know you said you didn't want to argue a few pages back, so I hope I've been able to clear things up a bit for you.

Humor is waaaay beyond you, linda. Keep using those smiley faces and you may fool some of the people some of the time.
I try to shine a little light on your bulb but I think it's a losing battle.

KD - You don't owe me an explanation of your belief system. I'm not arguing with the choices you've made. What started all this was when I said that, imo, you do say derogatory things about those of faith. And I believe I've shown you do/have.

derogatory = intended to lower the reputation of a person or thing///disparaging

kariadiarreah: how do you know what I am doing with my ebay and what I am not?
LOL. and here she goes again thinking she gets to play mommy with her oh so wise but quite uncharitable advice when no one solicits it from her!
You DONT occupy space in my head - but you sure keep trying to. And keep you're pea-sized parrot head out of my ebay business. You're a lonely tormented woman. An empty vessel with nothing but your demons to comfort and amuse you.
The only lie between you and I ever made - was by you. You never followed ace into those other threads to harass him? Deny it, go ahead. Just like you did in the original thread until fenix came along and innocently and unintentionally turned you out.
So AGAIN !
at kookieheads bequest, this REGURITATION OF HERS...I get dragged into rehashing the past with her that she just cannot let go.
[Her to lucy in the EO not too long ago]: "do you know someone holds a grudge against me - because I am just that memorable and important? Tsk, tsk, you know, if they dont love me, they just have to hate me, cause I'm so self-absorbed and in awe of myself, surely I must be beholden somehow?"
Ya friggin Kook. There's a name for this sickness. You better go check by a doctor and get some shock treatments or something to help you forget about yourself and imagined torments.
In the meantime..well, dig this folks! I have to go pack to fly up east for the holiday weekend. I will be enjoying myself with some family, and you all will be the last thing on my mind.
So Adios. Happy Turkey day! Linda, forget these clowns. You know what they're trying to do! Have a happy gratitude filled thanksgiving!

Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours. Enjoy and don't eat too much turkey. I'm flying out to CA again to be with my son and his family too.

Well neroter12, try not to let it happen so much to your head. YOU are the one that continually brings up my name here to do your little rants over me. I've pretty much ignored you for months now.

Linda, you're wrong. I say derogatory things about charlatans and people that use religion for personal gains.
And no, you have not shown anything but a bunch of quotes I made in reference to a kooky family. This hardly shows me always putting down Christians as you say.
posted on November 23, 2004 04:17:58 PM new
Of course it doesn't, KD, those statements are from only one thread. I've already stated that the same thing happens in almost all the religious bashing threads yeager starts. You two get off on this for some reason.
I'm done.....even taking the time to c&p your own words...and you still can't see your derogatory statements.
edited to add:
Next time I'll just post my opinion, as I did initally, and let you guys say 'it's not true' all you want. Because you just don't 'get' it....even when one takes the time to provide the proof.

oh no, I just had to peek back here and post to this before I go:
a kooky family...
Kooky? By who's standards? The husband works, the wife works part time and is raising her family. They abide by the law, they mind their own business, they have a swimming pool in their backyard - they've achieved the typical american dream,..
You're all hung up on the kid saying she was saved at 3. I can name 5 very normal kids that are/were just as adament about their belief in the easter bunny, or their favorite sports star being a near saint. Theres many a strong willed kid's opinion.
But calling a normal family with religious Christian beliefs kooky is not degrogatory??...nah!! By anybody's normal standards you're the kook krapt - sitten on your computer all day -EVERYDAY- going from chat board to chat board with mindless drivel.
They lead a very normal life and you just hate it because its so much better than the pathetic one you live. Thats your biggest problem with religion. That they have something you dont: faith, and that it guides them through their life. You just cant stand it, can you? yeah,..I know the children...no good christian doctors and lawyers coming along is your concern.
Helen, your opinion is so skewered you proclaim they showed hatred in the show. Tell me where? I never saw it. So your perception/opinion on the matter amounts to about minus zero to me. All though I will apoligize for saying you are dumb as a rock because I truely dont believe thats so..except that if you used your brains you might know that almost everything we do is spiritual. But thats a whole 'nuther arguement I'm sure
- ok, really really really outta here now for good or I'll never get ready. (Thanks for the well wishes, Linda!)

Yes, Maggie, The "rub control" is great in any endeavor. Lol.... I like charcoal too but I haven't used pastels yet.
neroter, the little kid thought that she had "killed Jesus" with her sins. You know that's not normal!

Maggie, Helen, I do a little drawing and water color, too. Did oils years ago and would like to get back to it.
I dream of doing a painting of my yard and garden.
Is NEROTERr discussing "kooky"...just whisper the answer 'cause I'm afraid to look.

Sorry Nero, wrong again. This is the only board I post at. Also, you don't have a clue about my beliefs because you're too busy rambling on about stuff that doesn't make sense to actually read anything.

You may wonder what the hell I am doing up at 4 AM on my computer.Well, I've been up all night, we are under tornado warnings and there have been several touch downs in our area all night. My neighbor came banging on my door around 2AM with her two babies in her arms, soaking wet, just crying her heart out in fear. So I have had company all night..LOL
Okay, I do remember Kooky, Kooky lend me your comb..seventy seven sunset strip.. sorta kinda..lolI can sill see his face, but can't really remember much about the show..
Wasn't that a nice couple of posts from the mentally challenged Twelve!!!! I choose not to deal with him anymore, he has a few screws loose for sureWhat a sick weirdo he is, so as far as I am concerned after tonight, he won't exist on the board.
It's one thing to debate, argue, and even insult and be rude, but when someone wishes you dead and tells you they wouldn't pee on you to put the fire out, then warns you that you have an enemy for life and not to forget it..I'd say that was crossing the line of sanity, don't you think.
Santa baby, slip a sable under the tree, for me I've been an awful good girl Santa baby, and hurry down the chimney tonight
