Well.. it's that time of the year again, over indulging and not paying much attention to eating healthily, and voila!
you've gained 15 pounds!!!

Just wondered what you all do to exercise?
I have several pieces of exercise equipment around the house, which are generally used to hang clothes or just to gather dust...LOL.. but I've dusted them off and started my program. I also bought a hula hoop.. a professional one, that I had to order..(the flimsy toys in the toy shops won't do the job).. and I am hula hooping myself into traction..lol..

I was going to curves (woman's gym) but quit 2 months ago, I guess I just got burned out.. but will start back in January. I feel so much better when I exercise but it takes so much will power to motivate myself to just do it... I also have an ab-roller for killer crunches..

What do you all do to keep fit and in shape?

I am impressed Classic! Good for you!! I used to love to golf, but nobody else liked to golf with me...I have no idea why? LOL...

I will start back to the gym in January, I like to go 4 days a week for an hour a day.
I hurt my shoulders with the weights so will have to take more care.. unfortunately, we don't have any trainers at my little gym.. so you are on your own...

I 'm at the gym 6 days a week, then my riding lessons, run 8-10 a day, swim several laps, have breakfast, chop logs and clear brush, uphill ski, then when I'm tired I golf.

LoL..Stop

Do you think there is an age, where we should just say, to he!! with it and get fat and sloppy?

Like, is it really that important to be a slim, good looking corpse in the casket?

It all depends on where I am. When I am in San Diego I walk everywhere. I live downtown so everything is in reasonable walking distance, between the bank, the grocery store, and just getting the hell away from the computer I do at least 2 and up to 5 miles a day just wandering and doing errands. When I am at my families they live about a mile from the post office so I get in the exercise when I make my mail runs. I get my weights in going thru boxes, unloading storage units, repacking boxes, reloading storage units....

I love doing weight work outs but right now signing up for a gym seems silly since they require long term commitments and I'm not going to be here long term.

My routine resembles that of crowfarms. In addition to all that, I have a personal trainer.

Are you asking us to encourage you to eat the whole turkey, Maggie???

I go to the gym 3-4 times a week and use the speed bag where I pretend it is 70+ year old fouled mouthed women...

I go to the local college pool 3 or 4 times a week. They're only open between 3 and 5 pm, so it's a perfect mid-afternoon break between work and more work. Since they're open such limited hours, I have to go then or skip it entirely. That's good, otherwise, I'd work non-stop all day.

Funny, I swim 2 hours a day 4 days a week and have put on 5 pounds since summer ended. It must be those trips to McDonalds on the way from from the pool...

You all are fostering the wrong principles in regards to exercise. You only have a limited amount of heart beats in a life span, one shouldn't prematurely exhaust their total by engaging in activities that accelerate the heart rate, sex is OK, forget the rest! Take solace from the fact you can grow old and die from something or grow old and die from nothing.

LOL!!

I think it would only take one word to convince me that it would be fine to grow old and fat and be happy about it!!

Shouldn't there be a time when we can relax about our looks and hand the baton over to the younger generation?
After all who looks at our age anyway?

Replay, I envy you having an indoor pool to use, that is the best exercise.

Thank you hillbilly, that's what I really wanted to hear!LOL

Maggie, just get into a "discussion" with Nero. She'll call you svelte if you get her mad enough. She said it to me and I've felt thinner ever since.

Maggie, it's all a numbers game - how old you are, how much you weigh, how much you make, etc. Who wants to fall for that 'conformed society' junk??

I've got a Bowflex on its way to me. Should arrive in a week or so. They finally came out with a model that doesn't cost an arm & a leg.

Wow Bunni! A bowflex! I've seen them on TV and often thought I would like one too. But I don't have the space in my home. Do you think it will be a challenge to put it all together, it looks complicated.

I like fenix 's idea of walking everywhere ,best exercise and it is free.
but maggie, yes, there comes a time we should worry less about how much we weigh and look and just be thankful we are healthy and have a hearty appetite.
It is too bad we dont all live in the same city else we can have our own watering hole and meet once a week.
bending elbow is another good exercise enjoyed by many.

Stop.. yes I think that would be fun too!

I've often thought.. if we were all in the same room, with no name tags, if we would guess immediately who everyone is? You know how you get a mental picture of people, wouldn't that be funny! Maggie

Becareful bunni, they have had a major recall because the seat breaks...

Thanks, Twelve, but the model I've bought (the Sport) doesn't have the kind of seat involved in the recall. It has a bench.

Maggie: I don't think it will be all that difficult, except for the part of wrestling the boxed components down my teeny hall to the room it will be set up in. Might have to borrow some muscles for that part. I figure if I was able to put my Shopsmith together when I first got it, I can do this.

A Shopsmith is an all-in-one woodworking machine. It has a table saw, drill press (& can also do horizontal boring), lathe, and disc sander. You can also attach other tools to it, such as a scrool saw, bandsaw, planer or shaper.
