Since there are so many gay men and women that are not openly gay, the numbers can't really be counted in any accurate degree. The religious right always says the people or group they oppose are lesser in numbers than sometimes they actually are. This of course is propaganda at it's finest.

Also, why does that number sound low to you? What is the more correct number in your mind? How could you prove that, or how could I disprove it? The fact is neither of us can. If the gay rights organizations wanted to inflate their numbers, they could say 15 or 20 percent. How would anyone disprove this?

There are always the last 2 or 3 thousand studies since Kinsey.

Straight guys love to burst out laughing when the infamous 10% figure comes out in discussion.

The 10% figure comes from Kinsey. However most statisticians have said Kinsey's model was seriously flawed. This link offers newer data
