A lot of people share names of the "Rich and Famous" My mother has a doctor named Edward Murphy, in college he was known as the "White Eddie Murphy" Just thought I would share...

Sonsie, I like your story about selling kittens to Kareem Abdul Jabbar. I sold a book to his neighbor, who used to be the head of a movie studio. And he got a great deal on the book -- only $1.50.

Elvis has bought numerous items from me. I am not making this up. Elvis is alive and lives in the Bay Area.

It's true. I saw Elvis this morning, looking at a Fender Stratocaster.

I have met, talked to and or worked with a number of 'celebrities' or famous people over the years. The vast majority of them don't give off a hint of their status personally--they are much more interesting for who they are and what they do rather than their name.

Typical celebs nowadays are destined for careers with the half-life of a Clinton promise.

Well Wayne Newton really bought my item. I am sure once I send my picture with the product that you will all have to address me as Mrs. Artdoggy Newton.

I owned a video store for 10 years and these are the customers that came in (none of them were the real thing just had the same name). Rod Stewart, Carl Lewis, Larry King, and a few others that I can't remember off the top of head. This was in Topeka, KS.

Wayne Newton does live in Vegas. I drive by his house almost every day. I often see the horses out in the pasture as I drive by in the mid morning. He recently had a fire in the area surrounding his home and even a trailer on his property caught fire. They were terrified of his main estate and Mike Tysons estate (they are neighbors) catching fire. I have seen him at the shops in Bellagio with a very young girl. I happened to be in the store with a friend looking a jewelry but as soon as he enetered staff swormed over the doors to stop others from entering. He was very sickly looking up close. His face was literally plastered with caked on makeup. And no it wasnt stage makeup because it had oil in it and stage makeup dosent to prevent shine. His hair was overly black..almost had a purple tint. His hands looked under cared for. So rethink your fantasy....because if it ever came true all you could do was wait for it to be over and to God say "Dhanka Shane"! (spelled right????)

PS I also think that the real Wayne Newton would not use his own name....most likely a fan that really likes him.

I am one od these people who is just not into stars and when I was introduced to Michael Jackson's Mom she said she was visiting our area because the "kids" had a show and I asked what kind of show they put on? She was real amused to hear such a basic question from someone because she was used to everyone knowing them. But it took her quite a pause before she could think of a reply. Finally she smiled and said" Oh - you know - a little singing - little dancing." Cracked my wife up big time.

I stood in line behind Bo Derek at the Orange Julius at the Fashion Show Mall in Vegas (late 80's). And then when my Mom and I were excitedly talking about it I literally bumped into LaToya Jackson (totally way cool at the time!). Later in life I sold shoes to Michael Jordans wife , the Professor from Gilligans Island wife, and Dan Rathers wife (and when I looked at his card and saw it said Daniel Rather I acted like quite the idiot speaking to him - God only knows why, he's only a newscaster!)

And, yes, these have NOTHING to do with ebay. Oh well!

Way cool on Bo Derek et al! These are fun!

Ok a few more of my brushes with celebrities-

Emilio Estevez and Keifer Sutherland came into the movie theater I was in while they were filming Young Guns. Emilio sat behind me - the film was "Bright Lights Big City" and Keifer was in it! It was funy! I got Emilio's autograph after.

I met my all time fave singer AND he dedicated a song to me in front of thousands at a concert venue. That would be Marty Balin from Jefferson Airplane. I met the rest of the group too and got into the dressing room to chat and get some autographs. Great guys! This just happened this June too Still puts a smile on my face.

Many, many years ago, THE Emilio Estevez walked into the animal shelter where I worked and wanted to adopt a dog. He said that he wasn't able to take the dog right now, but that he would send over a friend later that day to pick him up. His friend? Keifer Sutherland-THE Keifer Sutherland! What a day that was!

Several years ago, a friend and I went to Walt Disney World in Orlando for a week. We were at the Indiana Jones Spectacular show, and the Disney folks were saving several seats right in front of us - wouldn't let anyone sit there. JUST before the show started - like seconds before! - they ushered a bunch of people in and sat them in the vacant seats.

I casually looked down at those seats, looked away, did a double-take ... Walter Cronkite was sitting right in front of me! I guess even Walter likes WDW! <smile>

I sold a Life Magazine for 135.00 to "someone" The only reason I could even imagine someone paying that much is they must have been a descendant....the magazine had Audie Murphy on the cover (most decorated soldier cover, 1945)

I've met Bimbo Coles before. I borrowed his basketball during basketball practice and he joined our team because we were one person short. I used to have his autograph, but my jackass ex husband got everything in the divorce except for my daughter.

I once worked as a reporter for a national magazine, and I had to write to Ted Bundy on death row in Florida State Prison to try and get an interview with him for the magazine. He wrote me back two letters before our negotiations, such as they were, fell apart. I hung onto those letters for years, long after Bundy was executed, until one day eBay was invented. I sold both of the letters on eBay for $400 each. Creepy. I was glad to get them out of the house. One letter sold to a serial killer/crime memorabilia merchant/collector. The other one sold to a mortuary owner.

I once sold some sports cards (a very limited issue set-- college team). High book was $15. High bid was $53. I was afraid the bidder would have buyer's remorse, but as it turned out, I sent my end of auction e-mail and saw, "I'm so excited to get my husband's card." I then looked at the last name, and amazingly, yes, it was someone in this card issue who bought the set. Well, being a fan of this school (our blood is not red, but the school colors) I asked if he would autograph some cards in exchange for some extras of himself (I had DOZENS of him.) He was thrilled at the offer, and said he was in contact with someone else on the team, and he'd probably do the same.

I put some cards up individually, and another team member bought one of himself on ebay.

Then someone who knew another play (her accountant) bought one of him. The same offers went out, and they were more than happy to accept. (I mean, come on, how often does someone who is an accountant get asked for an autograph.)

It made the accountant's day. Somehow he had never gotten a card of himself.

I had some really cool Christmas gifts for fans of our college, and the players were thrilled at getting extras of their card.

I also once sold something to someone who was in the band Lust Control. I negged him for non-payment, then found out his ISP had been down, then he sent payment, and we e-mail occasionally. One of those cool aquantiences you come across. He was razzing me one night about negging him, but all I had to say was, "I waited almost 2 months". He did agree he deserved it.

I once played poker with Judge Mills Lane. I was playing in Reno, when I lived there and Mills Lane walks in and sits down. No bid deal because he plays there all the time. This was after he had the TV show.

Do a 411 search on your Wayne Newton. He has a horse ranch in Henderson, Nevada next to Mike Tyson.
