It isn't a name; its a description. I will understand entirely if you choose to never bid on any auction I hold. I won't even be offended by it.
I expect y'all aren't gonna change my mind; and I'm not gonna change yours. So there it sits.

There are so many words now you have to be careful with, so you don't hurt anyone's feelings. The other day at work I said 'black lady' and it started a big discussion.

i think it comes down to this: if you are of a certain group, then you can claim a term for your own, but others not of your group aren't invited to share that term. for example: i am german, so i am allowed to say that [stereotype] germans are stubborn. i know lots of germans and am married to one, and he's GOT to be their king when it comes to stubborness. as for fat chicks, i be one myself. when i go shopping, i say, 'gotta check out the fat department.' now, if someone who was of the slender persuasion suggested i 'go check out the fat department', i'd definitely not care for that. when other make a generalization about a group to which they don't belong, it's not acceptable. anybody familiar with the richard pryor sketch . . . ? saw a great bumpersticker this morning: start a revolution. stop hating your body.
