In my part of Texas it's all a Coke - even if it's Dr. Pepper.  A friend in Oklahoma calls everything Soda Pop.

Mybiddness. . I know it's a Coke even if it is a Dr. Pepper but we are from Texas. Guess it just hasn't caught on elsewhere? lol

Ah Texas1958---welcome to Western PA---gum-bands are rubber bands!!
And don't get me started---cause I always chuckle when people "in the media" try to deny their heritage and try to do this middle America blend thing. Guess it works for them--but at what cost? We are a product of our past and family. To deny this--seems a bit superficial.
Sorry to blow off this steam--but it has been smouldering. Popeye---remember--I yam what I yam!

Texas: Coke
New York City: Soda (some say Seltzer)
Colorado: Soda
Indiana: Pop
Pennsylvania (West): Pop
Pennsylvania (South): Soda
New Hampshire: Soda

California: Usually "soda" but a lot of times people say "coke" to mean soda in general, too.

Ice tea, iced tea, sweet tea, notsweet tea, unsweetened tea, 'plain' tea...mercy!
Since I've lived most everywhere, and "speak the languages" of the US, I think you'd be wise to make a Presidential appointment...Chief Protocol Officer (based in Aruba, call me anytime on alternate Thursdays).

Every true. I am Mr. Southern Comfort. However I do brew my own ice tea for lunch. The SoCo doesn't come out until after 11:30 PM local time. Since I am running for President I drink responsibly. A candidate in my position can't be picked up for drunk driving, it wouldn't look good...

In Ohio, we usually call it the closet. My relatives in PA always say "the cupboard."
Cupboard, to me, are the cabinets in the kitchen!

Ahhh dear busybiddy--we in W Pa have cupboards everywhere!! In the kitchen, the bath, and the bedroom.. However, I have heard of a broom closet---tho have not actually seen one.
Offside to Barry (I only drink SC after a socially accepted time)---you have lost your political stance---Iced tea ---shmiced tea---yeeech! Where oh where is that fun lovin' BB that we all came to know and love? If politics is this corrupting-----give it up Barry and I'll see you in the morn with a tall glass of soothing libation!
