You're that dull? You don't talk openly about possible investigations generally, but if it turns out that there are none, it doesn't matter.
Above to clear the thought for some that there may have been such a threat.

I wonder why she implied that AW employees might be involved in the "threat". She never posted here much and I don't recall any run-ins she had with the moderators.

I know. She's done such before in defunct places. That was a little more icing for her hysteria cake, and it sucks.

It did seem strange which is why I reminded her that she already had the IP numbers of the moderator on duty.

You can call and confirm; no report. Not so hard to figure out.
Well, Irene, since almost noone but pareau and the involved moderator even saw the post, and she knew that the moderator had, she used that knowledge in implying what she did to build her little 'cry wolf' case. And she was clearly upset that the post had been removed, so she tried to point to AW moderation.
It's irrational, of course, and when there is such a cry you can't ssume that nothing happened, no matter that it's been a falsehood in the past.
But your having pointed out to her that she had a comparison right before her eyes, and her not responding or acting on that, was a tell that there may not be truth in her claim.

This just gets uglier and uglier. I thought she blamed AW moderators because we had just gotten a new one named Linda. Silly me.I'm sure I was wrong.

Correction: seven. Redhead, MichelleG, pareau, plsmith, Rawbunzel, Maui and stockticker.
edited to add that I remember being surprised at how many people were monitoring Moderator's Corner so late at night, LOL

I have a question. Has anyone been in touch with the purported "implicatee" to see if this went any further than what we've seen here?
posted on October 6, 2000 02:57:03 PM newredhead1, if you're reading this, would you please post an explanation to the current situation? I'm really having a hard time understanding WHAT IS GOING ON!!!

Blanche,
At 1:29 am today, at another place, Redhead, using a new ID (although she openly admits to being Red) mentioned she was expecting company today, and afterwards would be leaving on a road trip for a few days.
Just didn't want you to get frustrated if no reply was forthcoming.
posted on October 6, 2000 03:16:51 PM new
Thanks spaz. Well, that's just great!! Now we all have a few days to guess, wonder and hypothesize about it since Red won't be here to clarify her side of the situation.
On second thought, if all of this is true, an extended trip might not be a bad idea along with a name change that nobody knows about.
Blanche (Desperately hoping it's NOT true and there's a simple explanation)

The "implicatee" is stunned beyond belief, although she smelled a rat from the get-go. I don't think she actually expected her suspicions to be so easily confirmed.
Even more perplexing is that Red once bid on one of the "implicatee's" fundraising auctions, so she can't understand why she did this; she thought they were on OK terms.

If this is what happened--and I think, now, there are more tricks and turns to this than we think we're seeing, and more people involved--there has to be some consequence for it.
Why, if this person had attempted to emotionally defraud and mindrape the members of a board in the past (because calling this "crying wolf" is as inadequate as calling a gang-rape "wilding" ), why the hell did everyone blithely go along with this person heading up the fundraising effort for someone whose HOME was on the line?
posted on October 6, 2000 04:29:30 PM newPareau: I don't understand what the one has to do with the other. Am I missing even more than I first thought?
And for the record, not everyone went blithely along with those efforts for reasons of their own.
"When I signed on at 4:30 (CDT, in case you're wondering) this morning, the first thing I saw was an email from KRS, urging me to read about the threat to Redhead, and the threads that concerned that situation. And further urging me to provide her with all the information I had about the 'bird' in question...information I had, but he did not, and which included the specific RL identity, user ids, IP addresses and "freemail" addresses used by that person. His was a reaction of concern...an urging to help. I gathered the data, and provided it. "
Knowing there were hysteria issues, you urged Beth to turn over the info to Redhead rather than to the police? You knew that Beth "knew" who the "'bird' in question" was too? How did Beth know who the "'bird' in question" was?
When you try to walk away from your part in this, it might be better to tiptoe, eh?
type - delete - breathe - ?
No, I'm really curious about this.

It's a holiday weekend, so have great time with family and friends, and don't overspend at the sales.
Here's Your Homework: Save the "angel" thread in the Moderators Corner to your hard drive before it scrolls off the board. Then come back to this forum, and save this thread. Check your work, and have a cookie.

Gosh, and to think I hated school. Guess I was just on the wrong end of the ruler.

Everyone,
Given the sensitivity of the topic of this thread, there exists a great potential for it to become combative and/or unproductive.
I want to remind you all that we have asked several times that events and/or posts from other message boards or email not be discussed here at AW. Because the original post regarding this topic happened here, you are welcome to discuss posts made here. However, events that take place on another board should be discussed on that board, not here.
If this thread becomes a discussion of events that took place on other boards or in email, I will have no choice but to lock it. Please keep that in mind as you post.

I didn't mean that THIS CRAP makes it a holiday. It's COLUMBUS DAY. Nina, Pinta, Santa Maria time.
I think these things are way from being resolved, but the good thing is that people are starting to talk more openly about the discrepancies in fact and logic. Whether it's outsider sociopaths or a few rogues in the Core Cabal, at least there's a better chance now that the creeps can be flushed out. It's sad and horrible, but it's been sad and horrible for months for some people.
posted on October 6, 2000 06:37:50 PM newPareau: Ah, I do believe you misunderstood...I don't live in the US hence there is no holiday weekend here because Columbus Day isn't celebrated here.

Thanks, Krs, good point about what you actually said... the post by Beth doesn't read that way... it reads like you "knew" about all the information that she had.
I'm not sure I'd turn over that kind of information to anyone but the police. But that's just me.
Sorry to disturb your Friday, KRS.
Kathy
