My partner lost her Conan the same way three years ago. It took her a year to get over it. We both understand and sympathise.

From one kitty lover to another, my deepest sympathies. Some advice for you: go to the Animal Shelter and get yourself a new little kitty to help heal your heart.

RAINBOW BRIDGE
Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge. When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.
All the animals who have been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind. They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; his eager body begins to quiver. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.
You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.
Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together ...

She was much more than that.

Preacher
To anyone, nodding and thinking, just a cat...
Me
I think that I shall never see
A poem lovelier than me.
I, whose eagle eyes do shine
To make my humans toe the line.
I, whose dainty paws do tread
From couch to kitchen in their stead.
I, with whiskers long and bold
Sometimes forward, sometimes fold.
My fur so blue, a perfect shade
The best coat color ever made.
Poems were made by fools like thee
But only God makes one like me.
For and about Nena

I am so sorry to read that you lost such a beautiful furry friend.
My thoughts are with you and I agree with Muriel. Go to the animal shelter and save another's life. Give Nena a legacy.

Preacher, I think everyone here knows the love of a pet. Pet? No. Friend. I will never forget the pet who went to Heaven with chocolate breath. That one always brings tears to my eyes. Your friend was loved, and will be playing in a beautiful field, scampering about under some white robes of a Man who is dangling a golden piece of yarn.

Preacher, humans are blessed to know and enjoy the friendship of animals, be they birds, cats, dogs, fish, gerbils, geese or the like.
When a pet dies, it's a loss. A family member has been taken away. Some people, those who have never experienced the unconditional love and companionship that a family pet provides, might think it silly to mourn their passing. It's not. Know that it is healthy to grieve.
Nena was a beautiful kitty. I am so sorry for your loss.
*edited for a typo and to add this: Maui, what you said above my post was beautiful.*

Baduizm. I had a customer late on paying, because she was so distraught on her cat dying. I didnt know, until she told me. She was so upset and I felt such compassion for her that I told her the same thing. It poured open the floodgates and we wept together. Just wanted to pass on the thought of light and beauty and love to Preacher.
Thank you.
