When I started a thread regarding the same type of situation in which I received shipping tape packaged in a Priority Mail box covered in a white envelope and marked "Book" with $1.75 postage on it, all who responded to that were very strongly against what the seller did and agreed it was a deceptive way to make some extra money on the postage. Of course, in my case, the seller had advertised in the auction and EOA notice that it would be shipped Priority, so he went against his own terms. I don't know if that might be the reason people were more against it or not.
But here, we have essentially the same situation, as a few here have realized.
According to my local post office, the reason booksellers no longer get a Book Rate for shipping overseas is because of rampant abuse of the system to save money. Now, you only can use Book Rate Internationally if you're shipping 200 pieces at once or at least 50 lbs.
When might we lose Book Rate domestically because of sellers who do this? Don't think it can't happen.
I don't ever want to have to charge $4 - $6 to ship 1 book to a customer.
