But let's set that utterly inconsequential question aside for a minute, katyD. What part of my "interpretations" in my earlier post is refuted by the information on the GP's own webpage to which I provided a link?

How bout "Disband NATO
Abolish CIA, NSA" for starters? And that's just a random choice from your post above. Couldn't find THAT anywhere in the Party Platform. And by the way, I'm not referring to YOUR link, but the official Green Party Platform RATIFIED at the 2000 National Convention.

I'm not asking whether you think they're "good" or not, and I'd suggest you not put words into my mouth regarding whether I do. I'd suggest you reread my posts before assuming that I've put anything in your mouth. Right now, I think you have your foot in your mouth, but that's my own personal "spin" on your comments. I would suggest that you read the ratified Green Party Platform, and tell us it specifically calls out for the measures you posted in your post of 9:54:24 AM this morning.

And I'm off to take my daughter to a birthday party...

Hello everyone,

Politics is always a touchy subject. Please remember to stick to facts and your own opinions. Making personal remarks about other members is considered a breach of etiquette.

In other words, please address the topic, not the individual. Bolding for emphasis.

Thanks for your cooperation.

So what I read here, about a quarter of the way down the page under "Peace Conversion", is my imagination?

And the same with bullets #3 and 4 under "A Pro-Democracy Foreign Policy"?

Or is this some bogus website?

Well here's something weird.

Not only does Nader have his own personal Green platform (as does his running mate HER own platform, and each individual state party, for that matter) - there are actually two "official" national Green Party platforms, each of which is supposed to have been ratified in the same place on the same date.

Here's a link that compares the two:

http://webscribe.net/greens/platforms2.html

I read - but of course now can't find - a news article about some GP internal brouhaha that if I recall correctly was nearly identical to the Reform Party debacle. Could the two "official" platforms be the result? Which is the "real" GP national platform?

One view on NATO in action:

Vintage Philip Agee on "Tracking Covert Actions into the Future," including commentary on NATO's actual role in international relations:

Decade-old publication from the Bulletin of Atomic Scientists questioning the future viability of NATO:

Its closing statement:
"A European peace community is a very long way off. In the meantime, NATO should actively participate in building the European security community, although, in the process, it will lose importance as the Soviet Union turns into a political partner and as CSCE institutions progressively assume more of NATO's current functions.

"The Atlantic Alliance has been a means to an end, not an end in itself. NATO did not create the Western community of values and interests; instead, it protected and promoted this community. As such it should play its part in developing the European peace community that would render it obsolete.

From what I have read and heard out of Nader's mouth, his proposals are not 100% on par with the Green's. Some of the themes are similar, but Nader's approach is not as sweeping.

Pareau -- Glad you liked the article. I do think it's one of the best written perspectives on the whole issue of Democrats who are disallusioned with Gore. Hope you will share how the rally was.

My point is this: Nader is as much a political pol as the rest. For those of you who think "it's cool to vote" for an alternative candidate, well good for ya.

This election, however, should not be decided on "throw-away" votes. If you believe D or Gore are ridiculous, well, so be it.

That's all, Imma say..

Hi Julesy,

Didn't go to the Super Rally--hadn't planned to make that one anyway, but wasn't feeling well enough to make his talk at Riverside Church yesterday, which I wanted to hear. I'll keep an eye on his calendar (http://www.votenader.com/campaignevents.html) to see if he's going to head back our way before Nov. 7. Maybe one of our AW Texas constituents will be able to catch him later this week. Sorry I wasn't able to.
