Doesn't matter for whom, or for what, just vote; that's all that really matters.

Twelvepole, you've made the only reasonable comment I've seen so far on the whole issue.

This is serious business, folks. It's not about "My team rules, yours sucks". It's not about tearing down your neighbor because in his judgment the country's better run by A than by B. It's about taking seriously your responsibility as an adult and a citizen.

You may say the choice stinks. I agree. But there are a LOT of difficult, unpleasant choices adults have to make.

Please. Honor the folks who died to ensure you'd have the chance to make a choice. Honor the women who were ridiculed and jailed to obtain suffrage for their daughters and granddaughters. Honor the Freedom Train participants. Honor the starry-eyed white college kids who thought it was worth risking their lives to help register black fellow citizens. Honor your children, whose lives - in large ways and small - depend on how our country is governed. Honor yourselves, for crying out loud. Aren't you worth it?

Good grief.

After all the hyperbole, we are to be confronted with a frenetic last ditch civics
lecture? Twice?

Where's Blanche when we need her? Guess it's time to add the AWIPHP (Auction Watch Inappropriate Political Humor Patrol) to the list.

Hi HCQ,

Well I also take it as a responsibility, a duty and a right and I wish all people would, the thing that makes America great is that it is a choice and while I don't understand not doing it this is America and their right to vote or not to vote which is equally important.

Now, I am going to get ready so we can go do just what you are suggesting.

High warning - I had a horrible experience voting this morning.

I punched the first two and my baby (18 mos) hit VOTE and that was it.
I was done.
I almost started crying.
It was over the marijuana. I just can't understand why people would make relief illegal for people in pain and I just feel like s*** for letting people down who were counting on my vote.
Truly truly awful, it was more important to me than the president.

Very Modern, are you in Colorado? I know other states have this on their ballots as well, but we have this one too. Just curious.

Even though I agree that marijuana for medicinal purposes should be approved, I think this particular initiative is poorly written.

HCQ, Some [GORE] of us weren't trying to be reasonable.[GORE] Some of us were [GORE] just trying to have a little [GORE] spirited debate [GORE] without believing we [GORE] could change anyones [GORE] mind about who [GORE] to vote for.Debate [GORE] another thing our country [GORE] is founded on!

sorry, couldn't help myself.Had to do it one last time.

Well by the time our polls close, it will already be done. Just as well, since Hawaii is expected a low voter turn-out, especially on the Big Island who by this weekend when Clinton comes out to meet with our governor, should be under a state of emergency due to flash floods. That's one of the reasons I haven't been around much this past week... sun is shining on Maui now but they closed the schools last Thursday because of flash flood warnings.
Oops, got a little off-topic there, didn't I? lol

Hi all!

My son, hubby, and I all voted this morning. Turn-out seems to be good here according to the poll workers. We have a couple of very serious local issues on the ballot that are holding voters attention here. Our local school district is asking a third time for a bond issue. Our schools are in dire need, the high school is at 135% capacity right now and students are split between two buildings. The average age of the buildings here is 51 years old. I hope the voters say yes this time, even though it means a rather large increase in our property taxes, which just went up due to re-evaluation. I still have two in school, one is in 10th, the youngest in 7th.

I expect lots of AW'ers will be watching the results tonight, and posting here at the same time.

I voted last week by absentee ballot and I am *so* glad I did.

The weather here is *horrible*! It is SNOWING in Las Cruces!! We *never* get snow down here (the mountain areas do, but it hardly ever gets down to this elevation).

I voted. It took 2 1/2 hours here! That is unheard of! Usually, you go, vote leave. Today, HUGE lines! Ack!

I stuck it out so that I could vote for (against) the president.

Dade Co. Florida reported an 88% registered turnout, and across Florida the turnout is higher than ever in Florida history. Oh, and Gore has won Florida.

Fascinating:

BREAKING NEWS...St. Louis polling places will be open for an additional three hours because of polling irregularities in some of the black neighborhoods. The Republican Party went to Fed court to try to block the Missouri State court's decision, but failed. 7:30 ET.

They did pull FL out of Gore's column because of the absentee ballots - but still too close to call - with Gore getting CA and WA - they say he only needs three of the remaining 9 states - FL may not be needed. The key state win for Gore was PA as it was expected to go to Bush without question.

Very very close - Hillary won though - that one is done.

We'll see what happens -we are here in WA state and polls are still open.

They pulled the Florida projection because it was rediculous that they called it so soon. The media made that call about 20 minutes after the polls closed, and didn't call Ohio for another 2 hours or so, and Ohio was a pretty sure thing.

It was wishful thinking on part of the media.

I'm a nervous wreck! All my local issues went the way I wanted but the big Presidential contest is making me nervous. First, Gore has FLA, now it's "too close to call!"

I hear on NPR that the Bush camp was furious that FLA was called so early and they made a big fuss so now most news groups backed off on the call. However, with the HEAVY turnout, I think they may have been right with the first call.
