Hi Amy! You and I have some of the same background I see. For twenty years or so, I have worked at, sold on, and bought on local autions and feel confident of my ability to judge these acurately.1) As for proving that sellers using vague "Excessive Shipping Charge" practices are on the rise and detrimental, one only has to scan the listings and talk to others besides power sellers to see a problem exists.Maybe talking to a x-power seller would add some light to the subject.2) I have never thought of a good auction, from a sellers stand point, as remotely resembling a cheap fleamarket. However, with that definition in mind, it's no wonder that sellers feel like they have to pad their handling charges to stay afloat!3)Auction buyers are among the most free-spirited people I know and I can easily see why many of them would go elsewhere when sellers make them feel like they have a gun to their head; deal or not. Besides what are we to do with people new to ebay, beat them until they go away?4)I would like to turn your last statement in your post to read from a new members view and to define it in terms of this thread: An ebay auction IS like a fleamarket with "Excessive Shipping Charges". Is this what we as sellers want them to feel? Last of all, thank you for smiling... am smiling too!

dubyasdaman: "Correct as usual Reasonable buyers understand that a good deal is a good deal, regardless of the breakdown of the costs paid. If I get a $100 item for $65.00, I could care less if $40 of that is a handling charge". I can't think of one reasonable auction buyer that would think this way. Picture it from his standpoint; he bought this $100 item at an auction for $20 which immediately made it worth... exactly $20 because his was the high bid. Now the " reasonable shipping and handling" TOS he read in the sellers auction is going to make his final price $65.00 for a current market $20 item. I don't think so! Explicit case of "Excessive Shipping Charge" Lastly I mean no harm by differing from your opiniion, just offering one from another perspective.

No harm inferred. You're just as entitled to your opinion as I am to mine.
