... but half of us are still trying to make a good reputation so it DOES matter.

I have been a new seller and so I know that feedback is important in establishing an eBay reputation.

Though I'm not a big seller now, I was a volume seller in the past and I also know that I don't have hours to spend each week leaving feedback (usually getting none back).

Bottom line: I use Vrane to leave reciprocal positive feedback. If the transaction is successful and the buyer posts feedback, they get the same in return. (This is stated in my EOA.) Knowing my policy, if buyers don't leave feedback first, I conclude that feedback is not that important to them.

In five years of selling on eBay, I have never, ever left negative feedback for someone who left positive first. So this is not feedback "blackmail" by any means. It's simply a matter of time management. I understand new sellers want to build up their rating - been there, done that. I also know that new sellers have to jump through some hoops in order to get established. That is a sad fact.

If you are a new seller and want to establish yourself, clean out your garage or attic, sell a bunch of stuff cheap and leave feedback first. If you're lucky, you'll get 50% back in return. IMO, there are better ways to build up feedback than emailing folks, "I demand that you leave feedback first." If you want it, give it.

Here is the webpage for auto feedback. It is a premium tool so it does cost, $10.77 for 600 feedbacks, or $15.66 for 1000 - The link is at

http://www.vrane.com/af.html

I think their free tools will let you leave feedback, but you have to initiate on your own (I could be wrong) - This one will do it automatically, it will let you set up 20 different replies that are placed randomly, and checks every day. It's worked out great for me, it is well worth the 1.5 cents per feedback to have it done automatically, definitely a time saver...
