Ok, this may be the "age old" question, but sales are down so I'm willing to try anything. As a seller do you find that using all caps in the title (not the description) is a good idea to draw attention to your auction? Or is it just annoying? I currently use all caps, but not sure if it's a good idea.

Personally, I find it annoying and rude, and hard on the eyes (especially when their decription is nothing but CAPS also!) and reminscent of those old commercials on TV where the salesman is YELLING everything at you - enough to make you change the channel, but in this case, make me hit the "back" button and bid on an auction by someone without a "caps lock" handicap...

I don't think it matters one way or the other. If someone is looking for what you have they will find it. Take the time to make sure spelling is corect along with good photos and description. That is what will sell your items.

I have "old" eyes, and I have a very hard time with everything in caps..all the words seem to run together. When I see caps, I usually move on. If I stay and look, if the description is all in caps, I leave even faster.

I REALLY DON'T KNOW

I Really Don't Know

I really don't know.

I may have a BETTER SOLUTION!

Since Titles are short, ALL CAPS isn't a problem to read. The Eye Will Have A Problem Reading Titles With First Letter As Cap. The title that reads like a sentence lacks that excitment element. People like to be SOLD TO.

HOWEVER (hint Jackswebb) in a listing description, ALL CAPS LOOK LIKE A COMPLETE BLURR, AND IT IS VERY HARD TO READ, so USE it SPARINGLY.

Problem with basic normal text like this in a listing is it gets boring, and CAPS tend to BRIGHTEN IT UP REALLY QUICK, as long as it's not overdone.

All caps, extra letters, words like WOW, and L@@K don't do a thing for me. But, its a free country write the ads anyway you like. I won't read them but others will I'm sure.

I've learned a lot about printing over the years from graphic artists and printers. It is absolutely true that our eyes have to work harder to read all caps.

I can see that it might not make a difference in the titles, but the body of the description should NOT be in all caps, JMHO.

I think ALL CAPS in title might help in stick out in a general search. BUT when a seller uses ALL CAPS in every title when you look at their seller list you just want to run away!

Just my opinion.

Gotta love your post. I put key words in all caps. I just do this to make them stand out. I do not use catch words like L@@K or W@W. I do not use many !!!!!!! These are totally unnecessary and make you L@@K WeIrD. UsInG WeIrD CaPiTaLiZaTiOn iS JuSt AnNoYiNg.

I swear, when I first joined ebay, I kept coming across the word L@@K, I thought it was the same seller. I'm thinking, WOW, he really sells a lot!

I also thought DUTCH meant the seller was from Dutchland or like that, so I avoided those auctions.

L@@K, GUYS!

This LQQK is not MY LOOK!

It's just a LQQK I've noticed lately.

Even in my newbie days I never used any LOOK.

But I did LOOK at some of the L@@K ads and I found some good GOOD G@@D GQQD Stuff so I guess it doesn't matter how they say it.

Whew!

I dont' think that matters as much as the "search" word, there are so many items out there it is hard to find some things, say you have a pair of jeans, if you put "like Levis" in the title it will be found in the search. I sell hair stuff, some people only recoginze "redken" so if I say "lk redken" they look, I think what would I put in the search box, and go from there.

hair2dye4: Actually, if you put "redken" in the title OR the description, it'll pop up in a search, won't it? Or does the person have to check the box "search titles AND descriptions" for it to pop up in a search if the word is only in the description??

I can see, however, that someone browsing the category would be much more likely to see it in the title, just scrolling down the page.
