We sold an old Jack-in-the-box to someone and when we emailed him he told us to watch for it on an uncoming Sesame Street. Not too exciting, but that's our "brush with greatness".

Hey, that's a terrific brush with greatness & I think it's exciting.
I would have been taping every show looking for my Jack-in-the-box.

stopwhining, I know you didn't sell to Adolf Hitler because I sold Hitler's ashes to Simon Weisenthal.

I've sold books to R.L. Stine and Nora Ephron (When Harry Met Sally). Nora was definitely the more conversational of the two.

See I told you I didn't know anything about the Doors or Eagles. Give me the Crew Cuts, Everly Bros, 57 chevy's and the old R&R.
Even the Big Bands. Now I am dating myself. Well back to eBay

I really don't care who I sell to, I care if I am going to get paid. I get so frustrated with the buyers now-a-days.

Why if someone bids, wins they can't either say they want it or they don't. Makes no difference to me I just hate writing, writing and writing. What a waste of time and money. I think if I write my WBN and it says to answer in 3 days that is what I mean and if they don't then I should be able to file for NPB right then, not wait 7 days then how ever more days to file the rest of it. Lets just get it over with.

Way before eBay Cass Winthrop from Another World came to our town to sign autographs at the local department store.

I took along a tourist-type shirt my hubby had screen printed as a thank you for stopping in my town.

Well, that is just before the Vicki/Marly arrival on Another World. When Anne Heche arrived on the scene she was wearing the shirt - and from a fictional town that is supposed to be near Johnstown.

So ... you can say Anne Heche has the shirt off my back.

jdsundstrom: Hey, if you talk to Nora Ephron again, ask her why she married a jerk like Carl Bernstein. (Their marriage is the basis for her book "Heartburn".)

I sold a box of 2001 Ryder Cup Golf balls back in May. The 2001 Ryder Cup was cancelled because of the events of Sept 11. They were MIB. The winning bidder send his business card with his payment. Rives McBee, a retired PGA golf professional. Regular and senior tour. He still owns the US Open, second round, Low score, I believe it was in 1966, the year I was born! We chatted back and forth for almost a week as I peppered him with every question I could think of pertaining to Golf and the years he was a pro. He has rubbed elbows with the best of them.......

Hi

I sold a Pee Wee Herman record to Alee Willis
the person who wrote most of the songs.

It was a mint unopened record and I believe she said that they were hard to come by.

In september of this year, I had a major league baseball superstar bidding on one of my auctions for an item which was related to his team / ballpark. The auction ended during a night game in which he was playing and he was outbid by a fan.

I sold a video to actress Linda Haynes. She's no longer acting, works for a legal firm but she first appeared with Joseph Cotten in LATITUDE ZERO, with Robert Redford in BRUBAKER, Paul Newman in THE DROWNING POOL and a few other movies. She even sent me a poster of LATITUDE ZERO and the scarf that Cotten wore in the film!

lindajean- All I ask my buyers is that they answer me in 3 days. I never said I expected payment in 3 days. You must read the whole paragraph. I have a very good attitude and I have waited sometimes 2 -3 weeks for payment. No where in that paragraph did I say I expect payment. All I want to have is a response. Right now I had an auction close on Nov. 24. I have not heard one word from the bidder, what do I do. Sit and wait another 2 weeks and then if they don't write then wait somemore. A little courtesy is all that I was asking. My attitude is great and I am a great seller, if I must say so myself and so do my buyers. If you would like to read my feedback I certainly will tell you what my eBay user ID is.

Explain what you mean by:
Edited to add: Your attitude has been rather bad lately so I was wondering if you are having a bad year? Sorry, if it has! You used to be much friendlier in your posts. I resent this.

lindajean-I just read my comments in your thread about international bidders and I thought I was rather friendly. I guess I just have to quit answering your threads. This is a discussion board not a love board...

I didn't mean to upset you. You just said all you wanted was your customers to write you and forget the emails as they were a waste of time! It was the way you worded it, as in saying "makes no difference to me" we all know it makes a BIG difference to all if they want it or not -- once the auction ends we expect them to want it.

And, I really think some people just buy things on ebay to get to "talk" to someone through emails so they are a large part of the selling process...not really a waste of time to some. That was what I thought you were to referring to. Now, I see you meant you hate writing and writing to get them to answer you.

I never do that. I send an EOA notice, and then just wait 2 weeks for a check. If no check, then I send a reminder.

Most of my winning bidders pay instantly with Paypal and have sent the money before they even get my EOA.

I apologize if I offended you. I will delete the post.

I sold a 78 of Glow Worm by the Mills Brothers to the son of one of the band members. He bought it to frame for a gift to his Dad.

It was fun...

Did you have a senior moment? I have them many times. Never been to Reno so I know it wasn't there.

Talking about celebs coming to eBay to buy, it is probably better than getting mugged in a store. They only have one person to deal with here. When I receive my return WBN from my buyer and they are from a well known area I just put their name in the internet search and see if it pops up. You would be surprised at how many buyers have either articles or work for companies and their name is there.

Hi petpost

WOW! Linda Haynes! She has been one of my all time favorite actress, and was disappointed she disappered from the acting scene around 1984. I didnt even know if she was alive! Do you still talk to her? Love to tell her she has been my favorite for over 20 years.

No celebrity auctions that I know of, my growing up my dad had a retail store next to a cosmetics store that was frequented by stars and musicians, that was cool. Michael Jackson was a regular visitor (This was in the early 1980's)
