Sometimes I think ebay wants all the sellers to know that they can list any day of the year without having to worry about a possible FLD to make them regret their decision. Think about the million or even millions of auctions that got listed a day or two before a FLD? Those sellers have to feel a little cheated. There must be many sellers sitting and waiting with their bulk loading software to upload literally a ton of auctions that are also running on online auction sites all of the internet. The FLDs ALWAYS caused server problems for ebay that hurt their image as a reliable place to sell.

I wish there would be more FLDs but I can also see why ebay will probably never do them again.

On FLD I list mostly items that are $50.00 and over and last year listed 186 auctions and sold 168. I have 155 ready so far for this year. I can list junk auctions for 30 cents each anytime why waste them on FLD. Most of these are items I would not list any other time because it would cost $4.60 to list them in 2 catagories for 10 days but for 20 cents (10 cents per catagory for 10 days) I will take the time to list them.

In 3 years I have not been wrong about what day free listing day will be so get those auctions ready for Monday.

They may be the "in" thing, but I feel cheated by them as I don't use either one...it is just a con to get people to throw in extra's and then keep paying for them!

As far as fixed price goes...some of us just don't sell things that fit in that type setting. When the auction format dies I will move on. While most of my listings only get 1 or 2 bids theres always those five or six items that bounce up there about $50 more than I expected. I still like the thrill of waiting till the last minute to see what happens!

Here is analysis of where eBay is a far as Listing Counts are concerned.

Click here: Ebay Counts 1999 to 2002

Here is an alternate website, Thanks to Donny:

Click here Ebay Listing Counts 1999 to 2002

Sorry if you get a notice "this Site has exceeded it Allocated Transfer Rate, just try later. I will asking him if we can post that file somewhere else, so everyone can access it.

I still believe that a Promotion ~ FLD can't be far away!

The listing drop already exceeds 5.0 Million and still heading sout!

How soon will this affect the stock price of eBay?

Merry Christmas.

One thing that eBay may try is restricting FDL to categories. And focus on those that lend themselves to the auction format: antiques, collectibles, glass and china. That would seem to be a way around the overload problem. We tend to list expensive items on FLD, things that have been up. The fixed price promotion was dispointing, only a 15% sell though, but these were items we will no longer spend money to list. But will put up on FLD.

It's very difficult to sell anything on Half.com these days as many items are at the minimum 75 cents. Many of those sellers would love to see a FLD were they can bulk load their books and only pay a 5.25% FVF at a site with much more viewing traffic. Maybe ebay knows that will probably happen?

Since today is Dec.22 when is this promotion anticipated? The books for the final quarter close Dec.31.

But since nothing was announced by e-Bay on Dec 20th or Dec 21st or so far today, would it not appear that there will be no promotions? Should think that e-Bay anticipated the drop in listings during this period and all they really have to worry about is whether their earnings per share for the 4th quarter of 2002 exceeded that of 2001.
