I live 40 miles south of Pittsburgh.
Premium gas was $1.73 when I last filled up (last week). Probably higher now. My car is 18 years old and I can't afford to buy anything that gets better gas economy. (It isn't a total gas guzzler--it gets gas mileage comparable to a full-sized van.)
The winter here has been brutal--one snowstorm after another, subfreezing temps for weeks and now this last huge storm that dumped around 24" in my area. I leave the thermostat on 64 and pile on the sweaters and blankets, and the winter heating bills are still $300-$400 per month. I used to live in Southern California, and I will *never* complain about San Diego Gas & ELectric's prices being outrageous again!
I dream of tropical beaches and "Santa Ana" winds...

At the yard sales and swap meets you will find those nasty looking rusty, greasy, uggly propane bottles. Well just pick one up,,,,is it FULL? If you strrrrrrain it more than likely IS FULL. How much? Oh,,,,$5.00? Or even $10.00,,,,Buy it!!!!! there is in your peak coldest times $15.00-$20.00 in HEAT in there. Those of you who know about propane know there are now bottles with out dated valves on them,(they will not re fill them per fed, law.),,,,FULL of BEAUTIFUL gas. Use the GAS and throw the bottle away. OR to be Enviromentally correct, dispose of it properly. The GAS is what you are buying, Screw the bottle,,,Well not litterally. I buy them all year long in the summer time,,Worthless, in most people minds...Come Winter,,,,,,AAAAAAAhhhhhhhhh,,,,,,,HEAT. You buy air conditioners in the Winter time and sell the HELL out of them in the SUMMER.
FETISH knows about Surviving. And doing it Cheap. I am working on my 55 mpg carb idea right now. Whhhhhhhhip in one hand and a Wrench in the other.
