It's getting harder and harder to filter through all the junk mail, to be able to deal with customer on a timely basis , and the only good thing I can say about spam is.... at least it's not killing any trees.

Is any body using any anti-spam software that they are happy with?

A program called Mailwiper seems to be the ultimate blocking tool, since it blocks any body who is not in your address book, and send back a message to any non-bulk account, for how to contact the user.

I just wonder, how (much more) confused the buyers would be if they got one of these reply messages..............

Any helpful hints out there???

I started using MailWasher - you can find it at [url]www.mailwasher.net[url]. I was tired of getting pornographic spam - pictures and everything.

You use it by opening it before you open your e-mail program. You can then look at all the headers of your e-mail sitting on the server. Then you can delete it (right off the server), bounce back a message saying your address is invalid, and/or blacklist. You can mark e-mails which are from your "friends" to let these through. After you process the mail this way, you can use your e-mail program to download what's left on your server.

It's really doesn't take much extra time, and I am so happy to not have to look at those explicit e-mails.

MailWasher is a great email tool. I always check my email with MailWasher first and bounce the spam back to the sender. I've noticed less spam after using MailWasher for a few months. Once it appears your email address isn't valid to the spammers they start to remove you from their 'contact list.'

Well now I at least know where my spam and virus emails are coming FROM!

I took a couple of months off of Ebay and all that mail stopped coming (yes I use MailWasher too)

Listed some things first part of the week and the NEXT DAY - BOOM! Here comes the virus and spam emails.

Thanks Ebay.

I agree glassgrl! My eBay email accounts are always full of spam or viruses. I also use Mailwasher, and it works great! Reduced the clutter to a minimum.

Thanks for the info on MailWasher. I'll check it out.

Are you using any anti-virus software (NAV, etc.) along with it? Since MailWasher sounds like it is an email interceptor, I wonder if it has any problems with or has any affect on the effectiveness of the anti-virus software.

I use it right along with my Norton Antivirus. Mailwasher detects some viruses and flags them, but you still need Antivirus software to detect the ones that get by, as well as to find something you may have picked up elsewhere (downloading, ect).

I am using SPAM CSI. It can be configured to automatically check your mail and delete messages manually or automatically. It also has some cool tracing/tracking tools built in.

It's free.

I use Eudora Pro for my email, and it is on all the time so going into a program before I check my mail does not work. I use filtering as much as possible, certain words that take messages directly to a spam folder bypassing my inbox. I still get too many messages in my inbox, but it is better than getting them all...

I am using Norton Antivirus 2002 Standard, version 8.07.17C. I also have the subscription service which automatically updates the virus definitions when new ones are available.
