And Yeah, It will have a direct effect on E bay, higher and higher shipping costs. All the carriers will just pass it on to us. UPS...Never bothered to even drop their stated Fuel surcharge statement and now they will just increase it. Point is here. Los Angeles Area,,,,,10 minutes ago when I filled $40.00 in my tank....$1.76 Arco Reg. Report in with your areas prices.

I love it when this comes up. I recently heard a father claim on a radio interview that he could not take his family to Florida for vacation because they could not afford the extra cost of gas in their car.

20 Gallons @ $1.39 = $27.80

20 Gallons @ $1.79 = $35.80

A difference of a whopping $8.00

Unless you are a shipping company, a truck driver, or you are filling your tank daily, the fuel prices are not going to kill you.

Try filling the fuel tanks on a semi, as I do 5 times a week -

150 gallons @ 1.39 = $208.50 X 5 = $1042.50

150 gallons @ 1.79 = $268.50 X 5 = $1342.50

And that $300 is PER WEEK.

Will it affect the cost of shipping? You bet, and it should. Will it keep people from being able to fill their cars up? Doubtful.

$1.79 for regular and over $2 for premium here in Cleveland. Hmmmm, wonder how Bush's family is making out with this. (Oops, for the RoundTable board.)

Unfortunately, even the bus is not an option here. They have eliminated free transfers and I'd have to take 4 buses to work each day. Even at $1.79 it's cheaper to drive. And, the local bus service wonders why ridership is down.

Gasoline prices will effect sales, that's for sure. As a seller, I'm thinking about upping my prices to cover my trips to the PO. I'd hate to have to do that. Good thing I don't need duct tape or sheets of plastic to wrap my items in, I'd never find any. LOL. Between the Ebay fees, packaging supplies and gasoline prices, I'm beginning to sink. Someone throw me a life jacket, please!

years ago I had a friend who used the "Mexican Cred Card" on a regular basis. One night he and his brother-in-law were at the "station" and one of them created a spark that ended up burning them both to death. They were attempting to steal gas from a wholesale station.

Rates here are from $1.59-1.79 in Central Ohio. The only thing good about my little Ford Focus is a small gas tank and good mileage.

They aren't, unless Bush comes from a family of middle east arabs.

I used to drive a Geo Prizm. Even with 125,000 miles, it would get 40 MPG on the highway. Well, one night Mr. Deer decided to run into the side of me...so I bought a new car. I bought a Jeep Liberty and loved it until the gas prices went up. Holy cow! We're paying 1.61 for the cheap stuff here in Southwestern PA but it's quite a difference going from the one to the other. I would love to drive a smaller car but with the winter we're having, I'm glad I have a 4 wheel drive. By the way...we've got 8 inches on the ground and are expecting another 10 by tomorrow afternoon. I'm glad the PO is closed tomorrow. Probably won't be able to get out tomorrow.
Back to the small car vs. SUV. In this area it seems everyone has a large vehicle. I simply did not feel safe in my little Geo. I would definitely buy a smaller car if they were the majority on the road. I didn't feel safe in a small car so I decided to buy something a little bigger...just in case. I saw what the deer could do to the Prizm and there was no way I would take my chances against a Dodge Ram or Ford Expedition!

20 gal @ $1.31 = $26.20
20 gal @ $1.61 = $32.20

Difference = $6.00 per tank.

How many times per week do you fill your tank? Once, Twice at most?

Over the course of a year, it will cost you a whopping $312 extra if you fill your tank once per week, and that is only if the price stays where it is, and does not lower at all.

If your bottom line is that tight, I suggest you get a job elsewhere.

Here in Bush's home town of Midland, TX gas prices are the same as everyone elses. Reg unleaded is still $1.69. I don't what premium is as I never buy it.

There's been too many gas co mergers, to have any competition left. Here in California, I've seen regular for $1.90 and premium over $2. Last summer, when prices were over $2 a gallon here on the WC, the prices started to drop quickly, when Congress said they were going to look into why prices were so high. I'm betting the same will happen again.

1.64- 1.84 in Eastern WA
Going up 2 cents a day, it may be a few extra bucks a tank, but it is not neccesary, we have Oil what's with the Gov??? And my Heating bill has doubled for gas, I use the fireplace as much as possible, for folks back east who need to heat with oil well I can not imagine paying those prices.
It's going to make me think twice about trips anywhere, it's just not right The government can fix this we have reserves, I am more angry about that then the prices.

Well, I suppose it makes very little difference if you earning a good wage. It makes a HeXX of lot to someone like me on a retirment income. I pay about $6.00 more for a tank now than 3 months ago. Regular @ $1.79 here on the Central Coast of CA. That is about $24.00 a month off the top of my retirement income. Couple that with the fact that my investments have lost over $10,000.00 in the past year. It hurts a lot.

How much does your internet access cost?

Cable TV?

Cellular Phone?

If $24.00 / month is going to make or break you, then drop the little extras, and tighten your belt. That is what I am doing, and that is what most americans are doing as well. Join the club.

If it was just the effect on discretionary driving, that would be fine. But it will impact products that use petroleum, or are delivered by petroleum-powered vehicles (in other words, just about everything). And while belt tightening is a fine and noble idea, would we all like our customers to be concerned about whether or not they should be spending money?

Hey resswago, I don't have a cell phone & if I didn't have internet service, how could I sell on eBay? That is my life saver, you dumb axs. If I couldn't sell, I would be on welfare. When yo get to be 75 yrs old, maybe you will realize what I am saying. I thought I had done a good job of investing, but nothing is a sure thing.

rewassago, are you also one of those people who won't bend over to pick up a penny? thank you, I have 2 large jars full of those pennys.

to me it is more the principal of the thing...when gas is $1.25 on Tuesday and the $1.78 on Wednesday and back to $1.25 come Monday, then I have a problem, that is gouging!

It still only costs about $14.00 to fill my tank, but would I rather have that extra money in my pocket or theirs? Mine! If you don't mind flushing $$ down the toilet for no good reason, then fine, but I have a problem with that.

sanmar, there is nothing more disgusting than the "fixed income" whine, stop it! Anyone who has a retirement account has lost money over the past year. And anyone who does not get a raise on a regular basis is living on a fixed income. An elderly friend of mine gets $1800.00 a month retirement plus his Social Security and he still works, all the time whining about his "fixed income" GIVE US A BREAK!

Ranges up to $1.79 at the few stations I went by yesterday. Its not the gas prices that are killing us here in the Northeast in general and New Hampshire in particular... Its the fast rising heating oil prices. $1.80-something and going up. Kerosene over $2.

Boy do you have that one right! It's killing us here in the frigid northeast (where temps can't seem to make it above the 20's). We keep our thermostat on 64 during the day, turn it up to a whopping 68 when we get home from work and then back down to 64 when we go to bed and still had a $300 heating bill last month! I'm paying $300/month to freeze in my own home. It's warmer in my car. There I can blast the heater for $1.79 a gallon. Geesh, will this winter ever end?

With sales being down on Ebay, and my carpenter fiance being on temp layoff, we may have to live in our car just to stay warm!

$1.69 near Portland, Oregon - we get full service though for that price, no self service here...

I also pointed out to my wife that even though prices are now 40 cents a gallon higher than a couple of months ago, if you have a 15 gallon tank that is $6. I don't like it, but all these people complaining that they need to change their plans need to get a clue.
