Why WAL*MART accepts most returns even if it is obvious you have used the item and are taking advantage of their liberal return policy:

WalMart, being the largest retailer in the world simply takes your returns and ships them back to the suppler/manufacturer for credit. The customer is happy, and WalMart has gained another loyal customer. The only loser is the manufacturer.
If you are the manufacturer and sell to WalMart, chances are that they are your biggest customer. Are going to tell them you will not accept returned merchandise? I think not.

Wal-Mart absolutely has this policy - no more than three unreceipted returns in a calendar year.

I found this out when my brother gave me a DVD player for Christmas. It was DOOB (Dead Out of Box) - I took it back - the next one was missing the remote control - I took it back - the third one was (you guessed it) DOOB - and when I brought it in the lady "casually" let me know I'd used up my last unreceipted return. I protested, the manager was brought in, and finally they agreed to add a note to my "file" (Wal-Mart has a file on me! That's just great to know!) (Not!) that the three returns were all an attempt to get ONE product that was working correctly. So theoretically I'm not "flagged."

They could not tell me whether the ban kept you from returning with or without a receipt after you hit the three strikes, but they definitely do enforce it.

There is nothing liberal about the policies of the 2 in my area. After 3 or 4 returns with no receipt, you don't get to make anymore returns without a receipt.

No returns on videos, video games or dvs's unless defective and then you need to get the same item.

No returns on printer cartridges unless they are defective.

Electronics 30 day return WITH receipt. After that you have to take it up with the manufacturer.

They have many other return policies listed those just stick out in my mind. I noticed when I visited Miami, that the policies are even more restrictive there.

Return policies vary from store to store.

At my sister-in-law's store, they allowed a return of a "computer" that as supposedly DOOB as misicgnito put it... a 2.4GHZ 256kRAM... etc

They had missed returning it to the manufacturer in a timely manner, so decided to "auction" it off to the employees, well the son of one the employees had his mother place a bid but just on the off chance it was just missing RAM, he had her open it to see, he was going to increase his bid, but his mother discovered not only was it missing RAM, it was missing the entire motherboard.... and hard drive... a 2 liter bottle was taped into the bottom to add some wieght...

Yeah some return policies are too easy...
