Although I feel that this was the WRONG WAR at the WRONG TIME, once the troops hit the ground, my support is 100%
During VN, I was extremely anti-war! Fortunately, I was able to serve in the military during the Viet Nam War in the Coast Guard.
I think the USA has a hellava lot more to fear from brother Kim Ill Suck than Saddam! OTOH: Kimmie-Boy ain't no pushover!
My greatest fear is that the Iraqi action, especially if no WMD's are found, may precipitate a war with most of Islam!
Then we really be in the deep do-do...

There are those of us who have lived through 60+ years of wars and "conflicts". We have lost husbands and sons. I have a nephew who is still MIA in somewhere in Nam. Unfortunately we will never know. Our country has not made it a priority to find out. We, I and my family, do not visit the Community area in which war is discussed because it pains us. This is the Ebay Forum where business is discussed. So, mea culpa. Giving a husband, a son and a newphew was not enough. Now I must give more. What do you want? I pay my taxes and I gave my children. What more do you want? I said in my original post that I supported our troops just that I thought there was a place for non-ebay messages and those should be in the appropriate place. Personal attacks followed. I anticipated those. See, my family died so you could make those attacks. Funny huh?

baylor45 I'm really sorry to hear you've given so much up for your country, and I can understand you don't want to read or hear anything else about the war as it pains you.But what I don't understand is why you would even click on a tread that read US IN IRAQ if you don't want to be reminded of that pain...The title of this thread says it all. These people feel very strongly about it and needed a place to let loose. They felt this was the place to do it among friends they share they're everyday life with.

I swore I would not get involved in this post, feeling are so strong, but I do think there is something I must say. I pray for the children, innocent Iraqi children who are being killed, maimed and scared to death. I also pray for the American children who will not have a father, brother or uncle. Some how, in all the war arguments, it seems to me the most innocent always get left out. So I will pray for them.
I knew any dissent would cause the true Americans to crawl out from under their rocks.
Personal attacks followed.
What dissent? I see none here. You made your point, fine. Desertmining also made a point. This is after all current events that are on everyones mind. Hard to get away from it.
You are the one that made the personal attack with your statement...crawl out from under their rocks.
I do not recall making any snide remarks towards you... best to think that one over very carefully.
We all deal with this "war" issue in our own way. Myself, I be glad when its over. You are not the only one who has lost family members in conflicts. War is hell.
I said in my original post that I supported our troops
Thats great. They need it at this time. What I think about this war I will keep to myself, but I will support the troops once they are there.
I thought there was a place for non-ebay messages and those should be in the appropriate place.
There is, however it does concern ebay as it does tend to slow sales down for a lot of sellers.
Now I must give more. What do you want
No one is asking you for anything. Want?? Nothing! If there was something you need to ask about ebay or auctions you could of done so and all these great posters here would go out of their way to help you. No problem!
Toasted36 said it very well."The title of this thread says it all."
Best to you in whatever you do.
This is the real faces of war. Not the glory, not the praises for the troops, not the triumphant battles, THIS!
"Beware the leader who bangs the drums of war in order to whip the citizenry into a patriotic fervor, for patriotism is indeed a double-edged sword. It both boldens the blood, just as it narrows the mind. And when the drums of war have reached a fever pitch and the blood boils with hate and the mind has closed, the leader will have no need in seizing the rights of the citizenry. Rather, the citizenry, infused with fear and blinded by patriotism, will offer up all of their rights unto the leader and gladly so. How do I know? For this is what I have done. And I am Caesar."
