Here are the requirements for qualifying for and maintaining Power seller status:

There are now five levels to aspire to within the
new and improved PowerSeller Program. Each
requires a seller to meet and maintain a preset
level of average gross monthly sales for the past
three months of selling activity: (shown in US
Dollars)

Bronze
$1,000
Silver
$3,000
Gold
$10,000
Platinum
$25,000
Titanium
$150,000

Each month eBay sends out invitations to
qualifying sellers who meet the above criteria, so
check your email box for yours, or click on the
'Check It Out' button found on the PowerSellers
home page.

To achieve and retain PowerSeller status, you
need to:

Establish a track record of consistent sales
achievement (see above for minimum gross
sales requirements);
Maintain a minimum of average monthly total
listings of four (4) listings for the past three
months;
Be an active seller on the eBay site for a
minimum duration of 90 days;
Achieve and maintain a minimum feedback
rating of 100 and a 98% total positive
feedback;
Be in good standing by complying with eBay
Listing Policies;
Keep your eBay account current - no
outstanding balance;
Deliver responses to successful bidders
within three business days;
Uphold the eBay Community Values,
including honesty, timeliness and mutual
respect.

Libra - to get to be a PS you have to sell so much a month for 3 months ..but to STAY a power seller you only have to list an average of 4 items/month for 3 months - you dont have to maintain sales at the initial level.

You do have to maintain the feedback and money levels. They say they toss you off if you don't. (I don't know from experience, I have always kept that lever, never higher or lower...)

They definitely do keep track of feedback and sales levels. At the levels where you have personal telephone contact there is some discretion, i.e., if you told them you were planning a 3 month holiday, they MIGHT allow you to maintain your level. As I've said though, it's not important in my opinion whether you're a PS or not, sales wise. It IS important however, at the higher levels, where that personal telephone contact can help solve other problems.

Well, I have sold a widget to a gal with an AOL address. She emailed me for my address, but aol won't let my email go through. Keeps telling she is inkwon. I am just using the reply button so it is going out on the same email that came to me.

neglus: I wish it were that logical...but it ain't!

Sometimes my web-addy (msn,nee hotmail) gets thru & sometimes my isp (attbi, soon to be COMCAST) gets through & sometimes NOTHING GETS THROUGH! Same results when I used DSL &/or CARE2.COM -- no consistancy!

Whenever I get a frantic email from a winner :"Why haven't you contacted me?" 100% of the time: it's AOsmell!

I would love to use classy formal HTML emails for my eBay correspondence, but don't because AOsmell won't decipher them!

How often on these (& other boards) do ya see the HELP QUESTION: "Why are my photos fuzzy?" WHY? Because they didn't fiddle with their AOsmell settings.

Interestingly, AOsmell can't give away subscriptions lately & folks who do sign-up are staying fewer months.

I have a sneaking suspecion that with 18mos, AOsmell will branch into 2 programs:

AOsmell Lite: the present mess
/&/
AOsmell Premiun: a broadband regular ISP with normal software!

Or, as Steve Case would say: "Byebye!"

If things stay like lately, might be quite a handful less "PowerSellers" ... and yes, it's just a little logo next to our name ... i really don't think it has affected our biz one way or another over the years ....

neglus: you WANT an email acknowlegement of the EOA? Who has time?

It's not *who* has time, it's *what* has time. And that would be the many computers scattered around this place. It's pretty simple, actually, to programmatically fetch emails, grab the subject line and compare it against the current active list of EOAs that are unacknowledged.

Then that EOA is removed from the list and no further EOAs for that auction are sent.

Simple, and requires no human intervention other than that of the buyer.

Like I said, it's on the list of nice-to-have.

We get so damn many "I never got an EOA!" complaints (when we know quite well one was sent out) that I cannot think of any other solution. Recall my original posting in this thread, and why I got that neg.

Fluff- that's why I use PP WBN...figure my butt is covered in the EOA department since PP is now part of eBay...in the immortal words of Jerry McGuire (i know you are always quoting Socrates but look how well read i am!): "SHOW ME DA MONEY!"...that's the best proof that the buyer got the WBN EOA.

Your buyer was totally wrong in giving you a neg and eBay should (but probably wont) remove it!

Tom- I have attbi broadband too (formerly roadrunner, mediaone and soon to be comcast) - that's why I keep my AOL addy (the same email address for 5+years) I don't even know what my attbi soon to be comcast address is! They lost me with the last aquisition! I have to admit that I use just the plain ol IE browser most the times but the AOL browser is just a disguised IE anyway(for some reason it doesn't work on editing Vendio relists)I tried AOL8 but dumped it within days..what a bunch of garbage! I wonder if some of your AOL woes come from AOL8 users!

With all the rules changes and arbitrary decisions, maybe they should start calling it the Powerless Seller program....

I think the Powerseller Program works...the best part being the fact that you are provided with a Phone Number and can actually TALK to someone at Ebay. Either to ask questions or complain.

I was selling a Southwest Airlines Ramp Shirt and Ebay actually CALLED MY HOME to explain to me they consider this a Security Risk and they would be removing the Auction shortly. I thought that was pretty nice and fair advanced warning.

Of course...I work for an Airline on the side and I kwow that Post 9-11 one can't enter a Secure Area based on Clothing...so I disagreed...but nevertheless...I thought the call was in Good Taste.
