I"m starting to look around for other ways to sell my books without having to set up a website.

I looked at Abebooks.com last night. They take 5% of the book price (not shipping), 5.5% if credit card is used. No cost for listing. 0 - 500 books is $25 a month. They give free software for listing the books. I don't see whether there's a time limit for listing a book, but other than that, it's looking pretty good.

Anybody out there doing this, and if so what is your success rate? And is it possible to list through them, say, for 3 months and then get out if I don't like it?

Ive also looked at abebooks Im in Canada so Im busy working out the $$ conversion factor .It has an excellent reputation and been around a few years.Disads :-
You cant post photos of the books .( I like that option on ebay )
Vendio does not have a link (ive suggested they look into this ) ,so you would be on your own for any sale monitoring.

I think it is good value and you could probably sell a wiedr range of collectible books than on ebay .

My book selling has been successful on ebay BUT I have some rarer items that need a more specialised site like abe books .

There is a very interesting site started by a ebay bookseller called www.bookologist.com He has some useful suggestions

Any more Bookselling sites other than abebooks ?

Hi: Yes, there are many more book-selling sites but as far as I can tell, they all require a website. If you find another which does not, please come to this thread and let all of us know.

I don't care about being able to show pictures of books, right now. I've had pretty good success without pictures, but now that Half.com seems to be tanking, I need another venue--or a bigger house! My Half.com book "corner" in my ebay office is full to overflowing at the moment.

Other sites: Bookfinder.com, Addall, Alibris, Best Book Buys, Bibliofind, etc. (all .com in address line).

I use abebooks for a research tool to see what a book may be roughly worth.( divide by 4 and that's what you can sell it for on ebay ) You can see many abebooks on Half.com now along with Alibris and others. Most buyers do not know about these services as they never advertise and most buyers use either Amazon or Half or ebay. $25 per month to list 500 books is a lot of money if you don't sell many books.

if they have ISBN ,why not amzn marketplace for 39.99 a month ??
dont forget 15 % cut for amzn.
you can list 40,000 books.
this is called the promerchant account.
if you dont want to pay 39.99,the just list them one by one on amzn marketplace and pay 15% and 99 cents transaction fee, listing is free.but the problem is you can only list the book for certain number of weeks, then you have to go back in and relist them manually .
but remember,listing is free
