I have a friend that sells on ebay. In several categories. She is also selling under a new id to help a friend get rid of some stuff.

Last week she used buy-it-now to purchase a cd. She paid a few minutes later via paypal. She paid extra to have it sent priority mail.

The next day she gets an invoice from the seller asking for payment. She emails and lets him know that she already paid.

The seller does not respond.

3 days later she sends and email through both ebay and her email enquiring about the cd. Seller does not respond.

Yesterday she sent an email from her address and AOL account (the seller uses AOL). No response from the seller.

She has delivery receipts for all emails.

Today, 7 days later, she filed a claim with paypal. The seller responded within 45 minutes with a nasty email about how he isn't
Tower Records or Napster. He goes on to say that he only ships on Mondays and that her cd went out on Monday.

She responds by saying, she would not have paid extra for priority mail and used buy-it-now if she had known he only shipped on Mondays (she purchased on Tuesday). He did not mention that fact in his auctions or his EOA.

He sent a really nasty letter back and demanded an apology for questioning his "integrity". He also accused her of lying about sending emails and that he wanted proof of the "phantom" emails. Like I said, she has read receipts from AOL.

Funny, that he can now get her emails after she reported him to paypal.

I think:

She jumped the gun, by contacting paypal, after a week. The guy has good feedback and it was not a big ticket item.

But...I think the fact that a seller offers priority mail for an extra charge and only ships once a week is pretty stinky. That is a pretty important detail to leave out of your auction terms and descriptions.

Do you think it was deceptive of the seller to offer priority mail and not mention the shipping schedule or do you think the buyer's expectations were too high?

Yes...cause nobody in their right mind would pay extra for fast shipping if he's gonna ship it slow...unless they buy on Sunday...but how would they know that if he doesn't say it.

so he did not disclose he ships on monday,so big deal!!
does the seller have to tell everything like height, width and how many times he has sex??
you know all these could affect his auctions,he may be too fat to get into his car,too tired to stand in line at the post office.

I think the seller is out of line on a number levels....
1) If you only ship on Monday - SAY SO IN YOUR TOA
2) Don't offer Priority shipping unless your buyers know that this does not effect ship date
3) Don't ignore your email.
4) Do not demand an appology for someone questioning your integrity when you have yet to provide proof of it.

But that is just me.

all these make ebay an interesting place to visit and shop,if every one has to do everything by the books,it would be very boring.
why not shop at walmart then??

Not deceptive (too strong a word) but he should have mentioned it.

Priority vs what? Media mail? If so, no matter when the ship date prioority will get there quicker.

And yes, the buyer's exp's were too hi.

Why do you say that? I am really curious? Should she have expected less, because it was an ebay seller? When businesses offer priority or overnight shipping, they usually ship within 24 hours unless it is the weekend.

It took him a week to ship an item that she paid to have shipped priority. She used buy-it-now which was more money. As a seller that would have conveyed to me a sense of urgency.

As I said, I think she jumped the gun, but offering priority and shipping a week later, just sucks.

Stuff like that has happened to me on ebay and now I'd be more inclined to buy it from a store if at all possible. Sellers like that are killing ebay.

No I don't. I sell over 100 items or so a week, and I answer every single email I get.....Can be time consuming, but I get alot of repeat business by

communicating with my buyers
communication can make or break your business.

If he only ships 1 day a week, then it should say so in the listing ad, even tho some buyers won't read it, the seller is covering his butt by having it there.
I have listed in all of my ads that I ship 2 times a week, and if needed, I'll go a 3rd time.

It is too bad that sellers like that hurt all of us, guess he could read the email sent by PP and respond to that couldn't he ??? I really thing the buyer should have waited a few more days tho.

What a stupid post. It was the fact the seller did not respond. Probably a power seller. Neg this guy Now and reduce his percentage. Maybe he will get demoted.

It makes no difference what the seller's shipping dates are or how often he has sex. It also has nothing to do with the buyers expectations. The unforgiveable sin committed in this instance is the seller's refusal to respond to what were obviously legitimate concerns of the buyer. If he's too busy to answer a buyers emails, he should quit his day job and devote his full time attention to his Ebay business, or he should hire help to keep up with it. This seller is a loser and the feedback forum would be a good place to start in getting him to realize what his responsibilities as a seller are.

The light at the end of the tunnel will turn out to be an oncoming train.

If I wanted the item quickly, I would have done the buy now and asked for priority shipping AS WELL AS sending an email to the seller explaining my need for haste. The seller should have responded but their mailbox was getting full with repeat of questions from same sellers

She said that she did mention to him that time was important when she repsonded to his email requesting payment.

I think that email is what got her worried. He requested payment after she had already paid.

I invited the buyer over to post the emails and his reponses. I hope she takes me up on it. I told her to invite the seller over also.

I think it's incredible how many posters support this horrible seller. It may be somewhat Freudian but I think they may see themselves in this seller's behavior.

I think the seller smelled like a stripped pussy cat. He did not disclose that he only shipped on Monday. This is BS. This guy is like the North bound end of a South Bound horse. She paid ofr fast shipping & didn't get it. Sorry, but I am on her side. I state that I will ship within 24 hrs. of receipt of payment, by god I do.

"When businesses offer priority or overnight shipping, they usually ship within 24 hours unless it is the weekend. It took him a week to ship an item that she paid to have shipped priority."

Businesses, yes. Amateurs with day jobs on ebay, no. (Professionals like us on ebay, yes.)
She paid to have it shipped priority, not to have it shipped immediately.
Don't assume you will get great service from an ebay seller - check his feedback (but unfortunately this flawed system prevents many from leaving negs).

I think most buyers on E-Bay figure the seller ships everyday,I do. If you don't you should put your shipping schedule in your auctions. Some people are buying for gifts and need to get a idea when they will receive it.

Why do buyers on ebay demand instant shipping when in the real world most Mail order companys state please allow 4 - 6 weeks for delivery.
