Oh come on! Is this a smokers board or can anyone join in??
I do have animals...I don't smoke.
I don't like the way cigarette smoke smells...IT STINKS in my opinion.
It has nothing to do with having a "fulfilling" life or being anal retentive
( my housekeeping skills will attest to that).
It just smells bad. Take a good whiff of your ashtray, that's what
all cigarette smoke smells like to me.... YUK!
Ok...IMAGINARY scenario:
I wear a strong perfume. I like it and there's no way I am going to stop using it.
When I am wearing my perfume my whole house smells like it.
Even though 50% of the population doesn't like how my perfume smells,
(too bad for them), I know it doesn't smell bad because the other 50% of the
population does like it and they wear it too.
I don't care if ya smoke, sister ( or brother, sorry Tom), but I don't want to smell it.
Ya dig???
How would you feel if you received an item which smelled of this strong
(offensive to you) perfume?
"Maybe they should not buy used items"...yeah, that's a GREAT solution.
If they ( or I ) buy in Goodwill, flea markets or wherever, I am responsible
for noticing defects in any item I am considering purchasing.
Buyers don't have that luxury here...they rely on sellers to describe
" to the best of their ability" any condition problems.
Smokers and people who live in homes with smokers or who are around cigarette smoke on a regular basis are less sensitive to the odor.
Same with people who own pets, they can be less sensitive to "pet odor" and pet hair.
I use a cheap lint roller on any linens or fabric I sell, even if I can't see anything. It only takes a minute.
BTW, according to ebay policy THE SELLER is the one who should be washing the item before selling, even if the buyer does wash it after receiving.

I don't smoke but I have 2 cats. I never mention anything in my auctions. It is the responsibility of the seller to send items as clean as possible. If the bidder has extreme allergies then the onus is on the bidder to ask questions before bidding. They are shopping on ebay for bargains and should not expect perfection each time.

There is no delicate way to say this but it should be said. I watch my customers daily and as they browse some of them pick and scratch their azzes and other private areas. They pick their noses, dig in their teeth and clean out their ears. They examine the findings and inevitably eat it or wipe it on their clothing. Disgusting! Some of these same stinky creatures have admitted to being ebay sellers.

I've mentioned before about some of the dirty items and packaging I've received on ebay.

Anyone with a cat knows they are meticulous animals that clean themselves constantly. Now, would you rather have a bit of kitty dander and the odd kitty hair or some of the stuff that drops from these humans in your packaging? YUK!

The smelly people I put on my block bidders list. I only want to deal with people that have a grip on the real world.

Here's a cute one in a sellers description on kitty cats...
Please be advised that this clothing comes from a smoke free, but NOT a pet free environment. I do the best I can to get all cat hair off of the clothing, but anyone who owns cats, knows how they can be. So, please, consider any cat hair to be my gift to you.
