DadofStickboy, the buyer did not add enough to make it right, where was the US$30 to cover the bank charge ?
Also the shipping cost is more to ship to Canada.

The buyer did not believe they were doing the right thing, they led me to believe they were in the US by asking for total in US$ and then ignoring my requests for a shipping address until after payment was sent.
Nobody seems to be commenting on this part of it.

I have mailed the buyer and it will be resolved one way or another, but again, I just can not believe people do stuff like this on a $3.30 item.

Just a suggestion. Why not put in your TOS checks from U.S. buyers only, I do that with Paypal, and it has really helped. Some people just don't realize that it costs an exchange fee at the bank. And yes, there are a lot of people in Canada who are not Canadian, our family is English, plus 2 Americans, and our fellowcountry men are out there fighting and dying beside U.S. soldiers, but really, that is nothing to do with auctions!

"hid the fact that she was in Canada " As a seller how can that be? All you had to do was look at their winner ID data.

I have been charged a handling fee on Canadian money orders in US funds as well( I think it was $1.50). I have added: "PAYPAL OR CASH ONLY FROM INTERNATIONAL BUYERS PLEASE!" in my Vendio global preferences, "custom payment note" (down at the bottom of the page) and it appears in big and bold letters in the "payment" section of my listings..right above the credit card logos.

Neglus: that's just yer bank being richard-heads! If the FED RESERVE ROUTING (9) numbers are on the bottom left of the MO & it is drawn on a US BANK, then there is no explanation for a charge, other than GOUGING!

Tom - there may be no reasonable explaination however I have had to negotiate with every bank I ever had to deal with charges that US banks attempt to add for processing personal checks drawn on froeign accounts. I had one bank that wanted to charge me $35 to process a $20 check. Luckily all it took was a request to see the bank manager and asking him for his assistance in closing out my companies accounts to put those fees behind me.

fenix: I wasn't talking about FOREIGN PERSONAL CHEQUES -- I was taking about FOREIGN BANK MO's DRAWN on a USA BANK!

Foreign Personal Cheques I refuse to accept!

Foreign Bank MOs Drawn on a USA Bank in USD are NO different than any other USA BANK's MO's & should be treated the SAME!

Tom - from what I understood, Neglus was refering to was a Canadian bank issued money order which can be issued in US funds (as can any Candian personal check) by simply writing US FUNDS beside the dollar amount. (In the case of the money orders it's printed )

All Canadian bank money orders in US funds have a US Routing number and are issued in association with a US bank. Tomwiii is correct. I'm sure banks are the same on both sides of the border, if they see a chance to grab a buck off the customer, they will. The only money order that might be charged is the postal money order, but those can be cashed free at any US post office.
