i just came back from the dentist office-communciation is a big problem with different ethnic groups-patient,dentist and staff.
they removed the bridge and saw away the cavity and clean the gum under the bridge and then place the temporary bridge on the molars.
i will go back for another impression in a few days.
the old bridge is gold over porcelain and has been chopped in pieces and cannot be reused,i think i will list it on ebay starting bid one penny.
everyone in the office is taking a certain herbal diet pill to lose weight.

Parklane made a great suggestion. Even if the wait is long maybe you can get a temporary fix until they can fit you in. Yours is probably a speciality and they mught need that sooner. Give it a try.

People that want medical care have to call around for prices as there are so many different doctors with different prices. I don't blame stopwhinning about costs. I think it is wise that everyone do that and maybe the doctors that charge alot will lower their prices...

thanks to the folks including fenix on this board,i looked into mexico, dental insurance and discount dental plan.
i did not look into dental school ,i know the waiting list must be long.
insurance plan would say you can only have one bridge work every 5 years, discount plan is just a scam,my dentist belongs to 7 discount plans but her price without the plan is just as good .
most insurance plans emphasize preventive care,if we go for checkup regularly,i think we can avoid most expensive work.

sorry it took me so long to get back to you but I had to wait until my husband got home to ask the specifics.

The dentist here wanted $2500 for the bridge.

The dentist in AL put it in for $1500 so he paid nothing out of pocket for it.

BUT he said the higher price was a quote for a 5 tooth bridge and the lower price was for when he cut it down to a 3 tooth bridge. He was just happy he didn't have to pay anything for it.

The funny thing was that they actually made the bridge here locally and sent it up there.

I know that you could go to 3 different dentists and get 3 different opinions as to what you needed done and 3 different price quotes. So you can only do with what you feel comfortable with.

ME! I stay far far away from a dentist as much as I can! I had a bad experience when I was very young and now I have to be put to sleep when they work on me and that's $$$$$!

I thought I was alone in that group. I generally make fun of my "tramatic childhood dental experience" but considering that I am going to have to have a mouthfull of replacements I probably need to start getting over it soon. BTW - One of the tricks my old dentist and I figured out that helped avoid total knockout was to make a tape of music that I liked and was relaxing to me that (VERY IMPORTANT!) had no breaks between songs. Then he could just gas me out of my mind and with that on headphones to drown out the drill I was actually able to go a whole year without biting the poor guy. I just had to let him know how long the tape was so that he was not working when it ended

If it's really "common" sense, why do so few people actually have it?

Why not just have them all pulled and be done with it? You'll save a fortune in toothpaste and future dental bills. Check out the tool category on Ebay. They have everything you need to do it yourself, or you can have a friend help. You can get a Rottweiller to handle anything that needs to be bit or chewed on. Sheesh..two pages for a thread when the solution is so obvious.

Excuse me, but I missed the ebay connection in this thread. Please reiterate. Are you looking for do-it-yourself bridge kits on ebay, or you want to sell your old bridge, or what?

Whine, Whine, Whine. Maybe you can bet your mommy to hold your hand. The moron finally needs someone after all his non-helpful comments.
Maybe you can go to London and get that bridge after it falls down.
