Libra - I would suggest having your daughter email the seller and ask that her bid be cancelled - the difference in your daughter's high bid and the second highest bidder isn't that much. Maybe even offer to pay the difference in the two bids. Hopefully your daughter's proxy isn't that much higher.
Also, have your daughter report the seller to Vero ASAP to give your daughter a head start of keeping her money and her good feedback.
Just my suggestion
And glassgrl - you are right, it is a bad fake. I have seen better.

heck, tell her to take the neg and move on - but I doubt this seller will be active long enough to leave a neg....
I bought an LV wallet once and took a chance on it for resell - spent DAYS researching it - I just didn't want to give up on it not being real! I finally threw it in the Goodwill box and gave up.
Rule number one - everything in LV MUST line up. They are sticklers about that, which is the easiest way to spot one.
They go on for pages and pages what to look for. Impossible to recite them all here.
I have a cousin that lives in Dallas that had a real LV and I looked hers over closely. I didn't think it looked any better than the fake ones IMHO...except the leather part looked better. The plastic monogram part? Ick!

Not saying this isn't a fake LV but the studs are on the one in the auction ...the leather tag is laying across the ones your pointing at Glassgirl and the big red arrow you have are covering over the other side studs...also if you look at the real LV it's miss aligned on the right side of the pouch. I can't believe people would pay that kind of money for a purse,it just blows my mind.
edited to say:
Can't she do a charge back if it turns out to be a fake and have the seller booted from eBay ?

no way toasted.........
here's what I carry, paid $20 at a yard sale and hated to do that. But it is the perfect size (for me) and TOUGH. I've spilled red wine and everything on it and hasn't hurt it.
and then I found out they sold them on HSN. Oh well, I still like it.

Get This:
"For any reason if you are not happy, the full refund will be received minus, shipping, ebay costs, and a 15% restocking fee. The purse must be in perfect original condition!"
For any reason!
Even if it's a fake!!!
Get out of this one even if you have to take a neg. It's a lose, lose situation, returning the purse could cost you more than 60.00.

This is where the seller gets you on the return, though...
Refunds must happen within three days of shipment and upon written email approval.
Seller ships Fed Ex Ground from CA - I bought something that shipped Fed Ex Ground from CA and it took a full seven days (I live in SC). But still, within three days of shipment???? How about three days of receipt?

I really need to get all these thoughts in one posting (it's too late for me! LOL)...
I noticed that the seller hasn't left any feedback for any of the negatives he received - sort of flying below radar and not wanting to really tick a buyer off or what?

Glassgrl,
Always been cash, sometimes go by my human name of Claude. You were once kind enough to suggest tortilla warmers for photos (been trying to find white one ever since; many are out-of-stock).

It looks like it's too late to retract or cancel but I hope your daughter doesn't pay.
If failure to line up isn't enough, it looks to me like the long zipper thingy goes on the right side in the genuine bag and on the left in the one in the auction. Also, the genuine bag has two studs at corners at bottom and fake has one. Look at the handle on the fake - looks like there is a stud securing the fold-over of the leather where it connects with the bag - they don't show the back of the handle on the LV bag but it's supposed to be rolled leather and should be much thicker. Also, I think the original might have raspberry lining?

Well she won the auction so we will see what will happen.
I did report the auction to ebay for misuse of Brand Name..
Did you notice she only sells the Louis on the weekend in the 1 day auction and junk the rest of the week. Seems fishy to me but if the purse is fake we should know soon enough. I hope she pays for that purse with her credit card but since I haven't talked with her this morning I don't know.

Remind your daughter no matter how she pays it's going to cost her a lot to return this purse.
I bought a lot of new SS jewelry for 300.00 & 20.00 postage (not on eBay) it was sterling, but a junky assortment, most was tarnished, couldn't even clean it so probably not new. Paid with a CC & did a charge back. My CC company asked me what the seller's return policy was, sent them a copy of her web site, there wasn't any policy so I was able to return the package, even got the 20.00 postage back!
If the seller had of said, "All sales final"
I would have been stuck with the lot.
The CC company didn't want to hear the jewelry was junky, they just wanted to know about the return policy.
The purse seller has hefty, well covered, terms & your daughter's CC company will most likely hold your daughter to it.
I think a lot of posters, specially glassgrl have proven the purse is fake.
Convince your daughter to get out of this. It's not that easy to win on a charge back. I was lucky.

I agree - your daughter is better off not paying for it - the restocking and shipping and handling plus return fees will be hefty and she will still have to fight the battle with the CC company. The seller absolutely declares that this is a GENUINE LV bag and I think it has been proven that it is not. Let the seller file an NPB on her 1 feedback account and move on.

She could pay with paypal
Buy the extra protection that they offer
Take it and see if it is authentic,if not send it back to paypal as a fraud!

Before you rely on PP Buyer Protection, go and read their terms. Buer is still responsible for all shipping charges. Your daughter will still have to pay for the cost the ship the purse to PP, not to mention the original shipping.
PLease! Just tell her to get out of this now while she can. Once she pays for that purse, it becomes an expensive lesson.
Need I add my 2 cents worth? The purse is a FAKE! Every purse they have sold is FAKE! IF she wants a fake, tell her to go to the flea market. It will be much cheaper for her.

Libra, couldn't she just ignore it, take the UPI and possibility of a negative, where she can start up a new ID using a different email address, say at Yahoo or hotmail if need be.

Update-She paid through her CC but she still feels that the purse is real. I haven't heard anything from eBay but then I wouldn't. The seller said she was shipping in 3 days. Now if the purse is real she got a good deal. She says it retails for approximately $2,000.00 Can you believe anyone carrying a purse that expensive. I sure can't. I don't know where she got her taste but it wasn't from either me or her father. I hope for her sake it is real. But then she said even a fake would be that expensive. Thanks all for your suggestions. Why would I do think a daughter would take advice especially at 33. I will keep you posted.

I suppose they just have to learn for themselves. If she thinks it's real then perhaps it's good enough. There are better made purses than LV's and there are more attractive ones. I hope for her sake it's real, because as you can see from the prices the seller's other purses have sold for, the fakes can be had for a whole lot less. I can get a 2CT CZ mounted in an 18 ct gold plated setting for a whole lot less than the real thing too. If a deal seems too good to be true, it probably is. I bought an "authentic" Dooney and Bourke handbag on ebay when I as a newbie. The lesson cost me $30 and not $260. I am afraid the designer handbag category on ebay is full of knock-offs. This whole story makes me very sad because it's deals like this that sour buyers on ebay and make the rest of us sellers look bad.

Libra, just before Christmas, my bestfriend held a faux, fake or whatever party at here home. I attended to look but not to buy since I generally shop for purses on sale or at the swapweet. Nor do I care about specific designers. Now I have been selling at the swapmeet for close to 20 years and I'll have to say that the purses that this woman brought were the absolute best knock-offs that I had ever seen. As far as the detail of each individual designer would be way over my head but you could see and feel the quality. She brought tons of LV, Chanel plus many others. One imparticular Chanel purse was extremely beautiful leather and it was purchased as soon as she laid it down. She charged $150.00 for it. Jeez, I thought isn't that alot of money for knock-offs. Nope, my friend said that she carrys the creme de la creme of Knock-offs.
So your daughter may very well be pleased with it and that is the price that this woman was asking for LV stuff.

The point is these purses are illegal no matter where you buy them. People selling them are constantly getting busted as are the people buying them. If I'm not mistaken, it's even illegal to buy one. You can hardly blame the designers even if their prices are way out of line. They only charge what people are willing to pay. The makers of these knock-offs are violating copyright, trademark and patent laws all over the place. I wouldn't have one if I could afford one. Geesh, what does that say about my income that I can't even afford a knock-off of these designer bags.

Update-Package was mailed this morning by fedex and she gave the tracking number. Checked to make sure the tracking number was okay and it is. It is coming to Wisconsin from CA and should be here in the middle of next week.
