I feel bad for the guy! Pigkiller or not, nobody deserves to have something like that happen to them! For god's sakes, the guy was BURNT, the skin was HANGING from his hands...that is awful. I guess it's ok that the chickens were killed then? Just curious?

I don't know why I just can't seem to get in to these people like I did with Survivor I. I still like the show but not the people. No one really stands out or anything to me. They're "too pretty" and "too boring".

He stabbed that pig numerous times, cruelly and viciously. He took pleasure in it. I don't believe his primary concern was food but instead self-promotion. Anyway, he'll heal. The pig won't.

There have been a couple of posts making references to how we get our pork on our tables as if we don't know. Many like myself do know as I stated before in this thread "Been there, done that."
Just because some of us raise the question of inhumane killing the boar please don't accuse us of not knowing where our bacon comes from.
What bothers me is that there is a possibility that the production crew "provided" the boar. If so, was it drugged?
Also it is stepping over the line of sensationizing shows such as Survivor. Like Michael said what more does he have to do to keep from being voted out of the tribe. He mentioned he had to *better* himself to continue to impress his team-mates.
Just seems to me that the show has to keep outdoing themselves in order to keep the audience interested otherwise we would get bored. How many times can we see them eat rat or cow brain? Where will it end?
Comparing the killing of the boar to the chicken -the chicken were killed humanely and the boar wasn't because the production wanted ratings. The crew could have stopped Michael. Why didn't they?

If you have ever tracked an animal in the woods you would know something was funny with the boar. It should have either ran straight away or attacked. I have to believe it was either someones pet or drugged. Also I have seen boar before but the kind I am familiar with are about 6 times the size of what they had with massive front shoulders and tappering to tinny hips in the rear with a set of 3 to 4 inch tusks in the front that can rip you to shreds. In Europe when they hunted boar with a spear they would put a sturdy cross bar on the spear because they had found from experience that when a boar charged you could spear him but he would just run up the shaft to get to you. That's attitude!

You know, there isn't a scintilla of evidence that the pig hunt was anything other than what it was. I guess it's the Oliver Stone in us that leads us to always speculate that a conspiracy is afoot. What were pigs doing so close to camp? Well, there was a large forest fire raging at the time. That would lead animals out of the forest, wouldn't it?
As for how fast the pig "should have" ran, I'm sure no one here has much experience with hunting wild pigs native to the Australian outback to compare it with. While the pig hunt/ pig slaughter seemed like a piece of cake, bear in mind that it may have taken three days until he found a pig and two hours chasing it. Every one hour episode (less commercial time) represents three days. How could we know what happened? The TV footage showed him overtaking and killing the pig. That's it.

I've seen the Crocodile Hunter (on the Animal Channel) catch a wild boar - he just ran up to it and caught it, and wrestled with it for a couple minutes.
But that's not even the point here. We're talking about a human being who has been severely injured and burned and spazmodeus seems to find that it was deserved. I don't care what he did - no one deserves to be put through that. I feel very badly for him.
And spaz, how do you know he will heal? Are you a doctor?

So the numerous stabs offend some----I guess he should have stabbed it once and either let it slowly bleed to death or escape with it's wound.

zazzi I don't know if you were referring to me but believe you me I wasn't "offended." I have killed before have you?
On the Art Bell show last night they talked about the "reality shows" such as Temptation Island, The Mole, Survivor and others.
http://www.artbell.com/topics.html
The guest had some interesting stories and they talked about Michael burning his hands.
Where will it end to get ratings? Go to a different country where their standards are more laxed than USA. I hope that the networks not just the top 4 major ones but all will refuse to air the sensationalized shows. Or pass laws prohibiting such shows to be aired in USA.

Hi bobbysoxer,
What's wrong with getting ratings? If people want to watch this stuff, let them. I don't think censorship makes much sense just because the programming has no inherent value.

Now that would have been poetic justice.
The accident itself was weird. A puff of smoke from the campfire knocks him out and he pitches face-first into the flames. Maybe the Australian bush gods tired of him.

Might not be the poetic justice you think is seserved...he may not have won the game or the big bucks. But $16,000 is nothing to sneeze at for 16 days employment.
But I think I can predict that this leaving the Outback because of the accident and his behaviour (which considering the pain he was in -- was quite brave) during it-- is going to up the ante in his potential marketablity--and he's going to be making the BIG $$$$ on the post-Survivor circuit.

No offense but I think we have gone off topic here!
I was disappointed that they didn't have a immunity challenge. I thought for sure Jerri would have been voted off this week if they had lost on that side!
I think Colby has had enough of his tribe and will be glad to join the others. Can't say I blame him. Jerri and her shadow, I mean Amber, couldn't have been more annoying this week!
And that challenge was for a so-called picnic? Doritos and Mountain Dew? I would have screamed for fried chicken, potato salad, Diet Coke and brownies!

Remember the original Survivor when the two people had their picnic? Who were they anyways -having a senior moment here- can't remember the gal and guy.

It was Colleen and Jenna. Colleen won the physical challenge and got to choose someone to picnic with her. They had hamburgers and beer and all sorts of stuff Jenna later said she ate so much she got sick And then she got voted off that night

Thanks!
Actually I think I had two seperate food rewards mixed up. There was the picnic with Collen (just call me colleen chapstick) and Jenna -they feasted! But there was another time a guy and a gal who stayed overnight on the boat.
Yeah Doritos and Mountain Dew. Is that cheap advertising or what....

Hmmm I must be blanking out on the boat thing. I remember Sean won the night of "luxury" on the yacht with one of the physical challenges. They flew his dad in and had him on the boat. He was allowed to choose one person to have breakfast with him and he was going to choose Kelly but bailed atht elast minute and picked Mr Smug Richard.
What am I forgetting?

I don't know what you are forgetting but it does seem like someone was voted off because they got the special food either Jenna or Sean.

Gervace got pizza and a phone call... and he got voted off.
Jenna won the challenge for the picnic and she took Colleen with her and Jenna got voted off.
Sean won the night on the yatch and he supposedly owed Kelly and should have taken her but Sean turned around and took Richard with him. Sean was voted off on the next tribal counsel when he didn't win immunity.

bobbysoxer, I think what you're remembering is when the two tribes were coming together and the two had to get together for the night to figure out the combined name of the tribe. They had champaigne and a few other things too. It was Sean and Jenna I believe.

Thank you!
I wonder if they will do that when the two tribes merge?
Is anyone catching the Survivor eBay auctions? (I don't go to any other sites)
There is talk in the AW eBay Outlook on a couple of auctions that was auctioning off the final survivor but the only one I found was closed after 20 minutes. I don't know if eBay closed it or if the seller who was claiming something to the effect a friend of a friend who knew a survivor....

I'm hoping Jerri pisses off enough people to get booted this week... though I think Tina is more irritating. I wouldn't be sad to see any of the Ogakor people go with the exception of Colby.
