|: Who's that knocking at my door? :|
Who's that knocking at my door?
Said the fair young maiden
It's only me from over the sea,
Says Barnacle Bill the Sailor,
I'm all lit up like a Christmas tree,
Says Barnacle Bill the Sailor,
I've sailed the seas until I'm broke,
I drink and swear and gamble and smoke,
But I can't swim a bloody stroke,
Says Barnacle Bill the Sailor.
2. |: Are you young and handsome, sir? :|
Are you young and handsome, sir?
Said the fair young maiden.
I'm old and rough and ready and tough,
Says Barnacle Bill the Sailor,
I never can get drunk enough,
Says Barnacle Bill the Sailor,
I drinks my whisley when I can
Drinks it from an old tin pan,
For whiskey is the life of man,
Says Barnacle Bill the Sailor.
3. |: I'll come down and let you in, :|
I'll come down and let you in,
Said the fair young maiden.
Well hurry before I break the door,
Says Barnacle Bill the Sailor,
I'll rip and rave and rant and roar,
Says Barnacle Bill the Sailor,
I'll eat your cakes and I'll eat your pies,
I'll spin ye yarns and I'll tell ye lies,
I'll kiss your lips and I'll black your eyes,
Says Barnacle Bill the Sailor.
4. |: Tell me when we'll meet again, :|
Tell me when we'll meet again,
Said the fair young maiden.
Never again, we'll meet no more,
Says Barnacle Bill the Sailor.
Tonite I'm sailing from this shore,
Says Barnacle Bill the sailor.
And if you wait here till Kingdom Come,
Sittin' and waitin' and suckin' yer thumb,
You'll be waiting here till the day of yer doom,
Says Barnacle Bill the Sailor.
OOps! Changed for a much less risque version!

Won't you come home, Bill Bailey
Won't you come home?
She moans the whole day long.
I'll do the cookin', darling
I'll pay the rent,
I know I've done you wrong;
'member that rainy eve that
I threw you out,
With nothing but a fine-tooth comb?
I know I'm to blame,
Well, ain't that a shame
Bill Bailey won't you please come home?

Obviously not a liberated woman
I am woman, hear me roar
In numbers too big to ignore
And I know too much to go back an' pretend
'cause I've heard it all before
And I've been down there on the floor
No one's ever gonna keep me down again

Oh-oh, yes I'm the great pretender
Pretending that I'm doing well
My need is such I pretend too much
I'm lonely but no one can tell
Oh-oh, yes I'm the great pretender
Adrift in a world of my own
I've played the game but to my real shame
You've left me to grieve all alone
Too real is this feeling of make-believe
Too real when I feel what my heart can't conceal
Yes I'm the great pretender
Just laughin' and gay like a clown
I seem to be what I'm not, you see
I'm wearing my heart like a crown
Pretending that you're still around

Isn't it rich?
Are we a pair?
Me here at last on the ground,
You in mid-air..
Where are the clowns?
Isn't it bliss?
Don't you approve?
One who keeps tearing around,
One who can't move...
Where are the clowns?
Send in the clowns.
Just when I'd stopped opening doors,
Finally knowing the one that I wanted was yours.
Making my entrance again with my usual flair
Sure of my lines...
No one is there.
Don't you love farce?
My fault, I fear.
I thought that you'd want what I want...
Sorry, my dear!
And where are the clowns
Send in the clowns
Don't bother, they're here.
Isn't it rich?
Isn't it queer?
Losing my timing this late in my career.
And where are the clowns?
There ought to be clowns...
Well, maybe next year.

Don't want your love anymore
Don't want your kisses that's for sure
I die each time I hear this sound
Here he comes, that's Cathy's clown
I've gotta stand tall
You know a man can't crawl
For when he knows you're tellin' lies
And he lets them pass him by
He's not a man at all
Don't want your love anymore
Don't want your kisses that's for sure
I die each time I hear this sound
Here he comes, that's Cathy's clown
When you see me shed a tear
And you know that it's sincere
Don't you think it's kind of sad
That you're treating me so bad
Or don't you even care
Don't want your love anymore
Don't want your kisses that's for sure
I die each time I hear this sound
Here he comes, that's Cathy's clown
That's Cathy's clown.....

Kathy-O, Kathy-O,
How do your secrets grow?
Why do you do the things that you do?
Kathy-O, Kathy-O,
Why do you taunt me so?
I never know just what you will do.
As you dream by the window,
Bewitched by a star,
Are you angel or devil?
I wonder what you are.
Kathy-O, Kathy-O,
Strange little Kathy-O.
I'll always love you,
My Kathy-O.
-------Another Version
Kathy-O
The Diamonds
Kathy-O, Kathy-O
Why do the flowers grow
Kathy-O, Kathy
Only for you
Kathy-O, Kathy-O
Sunshine goes where you go
Smile for me Kathy
The sun will come through
As you sit by the window
Bewitched by a star
Are you really an angel
I wonder what you are
Kathy-O, Kathy-O
Just keep your dreams aglow
You'll always be
My sweet Kathy-O

Earth Angel, Earth Angel
Will you be mine
My darling dear Love you all the time
I'm just a fool
A fool in love with you
Earth Angel, Earth Angel
The one I adore
Love you forever and ever more
I'm just a fool
A fool in love with you
I fell for you
And I knew
The vision of your lov-lovliness
I hoped and I prayed that someday
That I'd be the vision of your hap-hapiness
Oh,Oh, Earth Angel, Earth Angel
Please be mine
My darling dear Love you all the time
I'm just a fool A fool in love with you-uuu

There'll be no strings to bind your hands
not if my love can't bind your heart.
And there's no need to take a stand
for it was I who chose to start.
I see no need to take me home,
I'm old enough to face the dawn.
Just call me angel of the morning ANGEL
just touch my cheek before you leave me, baby.
Just call me angel of the morning ANGEL
then slowly turn away from me.
Maybe the sun's light will be dim
and it won't matter anyhow.
If morning's echo says we ve sinned,
well, it was what I wanted now.
And if we're the victims of the night,
I won't be blinded by light.
Just call me angel of the morning ANGEL
just touch my cheek before you leave me, baby.
Just call me angel of the morning ANGEL
then slowly turn away,
I won't beg you to stay with me
through the tears of the day,
of the years, baby baby baby.
Just call me angel of the morning ANGEL
just touch my cheek before you leave me, baby.

The nights are wearing' me down
And it's hard gettin' through the day
I need you right now
And right now you're so far away
I guess that I should have known
That I'd end up this way
I'm comin' home
And nothin' will drag me away
Chorus
Don't you never leave me baby
Don't you never leave me now
Don't you never leave me baby
If you leave me you will kill me now
And I'll start livin' in a memory
I'll start livin' in a memory
I'll start livin' in a memory
Of you
I need you

Bunnicula and Zilvy: I can't tell you how much I've been enjoying these lyrics. Memories keep flooding over me. The great pretender one didn't include the spoken part. I can still hear his deep voice, but I can only recall bits and pieces of his words.

Grab your coat and get your hat
Leave your worries on the doorstep
Life can be so sweet
On the sunny side of the street
Can't you hear the pitter-pat?
And that happy tune is your step
Life can be complete
On the sunny side of the street
I used to walk in the shade with those blues on parade
But I'm not afraid because this rover crossed over!
And if I never had a cent
I'd be rich as Rockefeller
With gold dust at my feet
On the sunny side of the street
I used to walk in the shade with those blues on parade
But I'm not afraid because this rover crossed over!

Where's this place called "Lonely Street?"
I'm looking for that lonely street
I've got a sad, sad tale to tell
I need a place to go and weep
Where's this place called "Lonely Street?"
A place where there's just loneliness
Where dim lights bring forgetfulness
Where broken dreams and mem'ries meet
Where's this place called "Lonely Street?"
Perhaps upon that lonely street
There's someone such as I
Who came to bury broken dreams
And watch an old love die
If I could find that lonely street
Where dim lights bring forgetfulness
Where broken dreams and mem'ries meet
Where's this place called "Lonely Street?"

I know a dark secluded place.
A place where no one knows your face.
A glass of wine, a fast embrace.
It’s called Hernando’s Hideaway. Ole!
All you’ll see are silhouettes.
And all you’ll hear are castanets.
And no one cares how late it gets.
Not at Hernando’s Hideaway. Ole!
At the Golden Fingerbowl or any place you go
You will meet your Uncle Max and everyone you know,
But if you’ll go to the spot that I am thinkin’ of,
You will be free to gaze at me and talk of love.
Just knock thee times and whisper low
That you and I were sent by Joe,
Then strike a match and you will know
You’re in Hernando’s Hideway. Ole!

Apologies, can't find a word connection but
Hernando's Hideaway brought the Copa Cabana to mind..
Her name was Lola
she was a showgirl
with yellow feathers in her hair
and a dress cut down to there
she would marengue
and do the cha-cha
and while she tried to be a star
Tony always tended bar
across the crowded floor
they worked from eight to four
they were young and they had each other
who could ask for more ?
At the copa-copacabana
the hottest spot north of Havana
at the copa-copacabana
music and passion were always the fashion
at the copa they fellin' love.
His name was Rico
he wore a diamond
he was escorted to his chair
he saw Lola dancin' there
and when she finished
he called her over
but Rico went a bit too far
Tony sailed across the bar
and then the punches flew
and chairs were smashed in two
there was blood and a single gunshot
but just who shot who ?
At the copa-copacabana
the hottest spot north of Havana
at the copa-copacabana
music and passion were always the fashion
at the copa
she lost her love.
Her name is Lola
she was a showgirl
but that was thirty years ago
when they used to have a show
now it's a disco
but not for Lola
still in the dress she used to wear
faded feathers in her hair
she sits there so refined
and drinks herself half blind
she lost her youth and her Tony
now she's lost her mind.
At the copa-copacabana
the hottest spot north of Havana
at the copa-copacabana
music and passion were always the fashion
at the copa don't fall in love.
