I agree Spaz! Hell, I've already forgotten what the topic is here.

Where, oh where is Borillar to help his
weak minded subjects out.

In his first three months in office, Bush managed to orchestrate an international incident, a recession and an energy crisis. Not to mention dropping a spy plane in the laps of the Chinese.

Bush won the election by hook or by crook. Unfortunately, Clinton was a crook too. This is what our democratic system has come down to.

twinsoft,

On this American Memorial Day weekend, are you saying that you are not proud of our democratic system, which includes annointing incompetent presidents?

Unfortunate that one can no longer comment on the inanity of a post without others construing it as personal.

twinsoft's post read like a fiftieth regurgitation of the same old tired pundit-wannabe commentary that these Democrat/Republican pissing contest threads have inflicted on us ever since the election.

My remark, "blah blah blah," was merely an evocation of what sprang to mind when I read twinsoft's post. There was nothing personal about it. In fact, I could easily apply the same remark to dozens of other posts by different posters in recent months.

And as easily to the many TV guide inspired diatribes on the worth or lack of this and that new or old program offering but my post went to yours previous to the 'blah, blah, blah' post, and was evidently indecipherable as a commentary on other times.

A recession that started way before Bush took office, there was no way of knowing he would win, but hell, he is at fault anyway isn't he?

Oh yes, Bush personally made sure that plane went down over there, and the "energy crisis" was also happening long before Bush took office.

Let me guess, it was really Bush on that grassy knoll wasn't it?

The sky is falling.....the sky is falling....!!! Geez, I only have two coats of wax on my car, maybe I'd better put a couple more on, to protect the paint against fallout. Get the wife down in the mud hole I dug in the backyard. Make sure I make that payment on the house insurance to rebuild from the damage done to the house, if it's left at all. ......OMG.....the insurance doesn't cover nulear attacks!!! Have to send the pets to.....OMG.....where do I send the pets??? Maybe I'd better dig a deeper hole, and move the wife over. Or maybe, better yet, dig the pets their own hole, the wife is tougher, she'll probably survive..... just the pets and I will be gone!! The damn car will probably be okay too. The wife will get the car, the insurance money, buy some new pets, and laugh all the way to the bank.....OMG...... will the bank be gone? Oh well, she'll still have her credit cards. You know somedays, the world just flat out sucks! #!*&#+% Chinese President, (I hope he has a wife too, that'll teach his butt).

Seriously though folks. I wouldn't want to survive such an attack, would you? Mostly everyone you knew was gone, all of our countries infrastructure was gone. Those who survived would be hospitalized, providing there was enough hospitals left to handle the masses of injured. Then those who did would more than likely die from radiation after the fact. For me, I couldn't deal with not being able to drive up to McDonalds and get my value meal. Like someone posted in a recent thread of mine, on another site "Low class patrons at low class outlets get low class treatment so they'll feel comfortable, right to home." Your damn right! Yep, I'm the common man, and you mess with my McDonalds, your ass is in deep s---.

you can jump-start the Millennium Bug

I was prepared for the Y2K bug, I didn't get caught like some did. I had my money buried in coffee cans (Y2K compatible cans) in my back yard. I only lost a few hundred dollars, one can got moldy and the other was destroyed by a rotor tiller (my map was off 2 feet). I just sat in my shelter and smiled as others lost their life savings by trusting banks and their computers. Learning to get these first alerts on scary situations off the internet has been a real boost to my quality of life

Uaru, well I for one am glad I can get so much valuable political insight and revelation from these internet chat rooms. In fact, I've definitely decided to change my political affiliation. To Republican.

Living in the heart of SillyCon Valley, and just north of San Jose, I expect to be at ground zero in the event of an attack. At least I'll have the satisfaction of seeing eBay go first.

YES!!! (poof!)

Just a matter of timing....

In europe, as a whole, the attitudes of the Chinese are echoed though less stringently:

"In many ways, it is true that a certain kind of globalization permeates modern societies and
a lot of the friction and criticism is the kind that used to divide people within a single
society, another form of homogenization. But there is a difference between Europe, as a
social whole if not a single unit, and America on political issues. It is felt that the goal of
social justice has been downgraded in the United States to an extent that Europe does not
want to tolerate.
.
Awareness of power makes Europeans more sensitive to what they see as American
arrogance and Americans less sensitive to allies' concerns.
.
Behind all this, and only beginning to weigh on the relations, are new signs of clear
difference in ideas of how to address international security. America, or at any rate the
current government and its advisers, are focusing on new high-tech answers to what it sees
as new technological threats. "Rogue state" missiles and computer vandals give rise to talk
about an acute new vulnerability which will require defense in space and make sure that fear
of potential enemies is kept alive."

Uh-huh.

But seriously, before Bush came riding up on his white steed, I was under the impression that everything was fine.

Yes, I do think the incidents were orchestrated by Bush & Co. Look at the results. A sudden rush to build nuclear plants, while eliminating all safeguards. A new push for an expensive and useless Star Wars, pt. II. Look at the results. Yes, it's orchestrated.

Has Bush made one single move that didn't directly benefit big business, as in Industrial Military Complex or Big Power Companies? I only hope this country is still here in four more years.

That's a good link! See what real erudition can produce!!!

The reduction of emphasis on "polarized belligerence and predicting threats" is, I believe, a very important distinction for America to make.

"It is felt that the goal of social justice has been downgraded in the United States to an extent that Europe does not want to tolerate."

Isn't that a reversal!...America is not up to par on social justice.

I tried to express some of these thoughts before in my minimalist style with my weak brain.

Economic ups and down have always been present and it is not always possible to link them to political actions. The thing is we just came off a period of prosperity that was unusually long that did correspond to a two term presidency.

Is it possible that the fact that no matter WHO won the election there was going to be change helped destabilize the
economy?
The limitation of the presidency to two terms is good for some things but it is
not a stabilizing factor to have a mandated change of leadership when everything is
going smooth and most people would be happy to not induce any change. The two term limit was in response to fear of one man and may not have been a good long term idea for the country.

Yes.

"A recession that started way before Bush took office, and the "energy crisis" was also happening long before Bush took office".

Both republican myths.

"Let me guess, it was really Bush on that grassy knoll wasn't it?"

Not dubya, but theree's a strong possibility that his father was involved in that.

In the first place, there isn't a recession even now. In the second, the market goes up and down continually so to say that a recession began because of a very gradual downward turn which began in October before Bush does not address the truth that that market left that gradual downturn and entered a severe nosedive in January. Since the selection the economy has been like an airliner which lost all power on it's glidepath and is now irrevokably committed to hit the ground of recession. The resultant crater will be a depression. Even though there has been some small attempts to continue in flight, those can be viewed only as the last desparate acts of a doomed pilot (Cpt. Greenspan).

Notice the heavy influence of downdrafts which began in November, whacked hard in January, and have forced the altitude downward.

Your 'Captain Greenspan' has done a very good job, and probably longer than you've known what a Chief Economic Advisor or Chairman of the Federal Reserve Board is or does.

He's saved this countrys ass more than once, and has nothing to do with heroics, but good management.

One of Clintons successes was taking Greenspans advice.

You best hope that old Cap'n of yours doesn't kick off soon.
