In a parting shot as he leaves his post, Trent Lott shows for all just who it is that fosters all of the hostility between political parties in this country.

With hardly a passing reference to any cause designed for the good of the country, he defines the battle lines and makes it clear just who republicans consider to be the enemy.

saabsister, LoL

Hey, I haven't seen you since you told me about grits and cheese. Excellent!!!

My relatives down there can invite him to dinner. He already has the appropriate outfit that he wore to George's ranch...hat with a feather, boots and bluejeans! Just perfect!!!

Antiquary, I think that I had too many grams.
ROTFL

SNOwyegReT and Antiquary,

Oh! they will feed him well, maybe even take him fishing in the pond or creek or whatever,
lubricate him well with booze and he will be one of the good ole boys again...brainless but happy!!! Right where he belongs.

The pond, however, has no fishies but only snakes. I'm hoping that he will suffer a bite or two.

Yeeeessss!!! Snake mating season! only you would think of that aspect! The snakes will undoubtedly recognize a fellow member and just think...can you imagine the orgy that will be happening in the pond in Mississippi?

Before I take a break to refresh my little
drinky, you have a good point...lottsasnakes
down there. that's the damm truth!!! They voted for this rascal and they deserve to have him back.

MY cousin went to school with him and according to her, all that he learned how to do was to blow a horn in the band.

Enjoy your refreshment.

It all sounds really disorganized with the Republicans, each egomaniac trying to usurp the power and position of other Republicans. For instance, didn't Dubya promise to "cross the aisles" to bring both parties together? Now Trent Lott wants to "Declare War" on the Democrats! This same pattern seems to run deep, and calls to "find those responsible" are starting to sound, meaning that some Republican politicians are getting scared. At this point, if John McCain left the Republican Party, the GOP would shatter into its multitude of radical and extremist splinter groups.

"A number of my colleagues are very interested in taking Lott's job at the appropriate time."
Sounds to me like the rest of the pack have sniffed blood and are circling and salivating, waiting for just the right time to go in for the kill.

The Republicans seem to be more interested in jockying for position than they are in clearing up the Jeffords mistake. They seem to be intent on making the same mistake over and over again until they self destruct.

Borillar, as an aside, I loved the manner in which you and krs handled the USAF.

-Helen-

Thank you, Helen. I enjoyed having Deuce on the board for his short duration. It was unfortunate that the service that he dearly loves also binded his hands when it came to fully expressing his own opinion. I felt that if he wanted to participate on this board - and I was happy that he did, I wanted to bring up something to discuss that affected him directly. I did that because his reason for voting for Bush, even though he knew how bad a president he would make, he was concerned only with his pocketbook and not the good of the country. Typical poor judgement that got us into this mess. I didn't expect anything less from a Republican who voted for Bush instead of their conscience.

"Mr. Lott also asserted that the Democrats should not be treated as holding a majority. Democrats, he said, "hold a plurality, not majority in the Senate," and "their effective control of the Senate lacks the moral authority of a mandate from the voters."

My dear Mr. Lott,

Do you even understand what your bald faced statement "lacks the moral authority of a mandate from the voters" is saying?

I seem to recall a popular vote for the Presidency that bestowed no mandate on Mr. Bush. Yet you have the perverse gall and arrogance to talk about the subversion of democracy by one man of a rectitude and integrity to the people he represents that you cannot even begin to fathom?

Take your act to somewhere where it plays better than the shrill and vindictive sore loser tune that it so obviously is.
