Continual accumulation of resources beyond fulfilling the necessities of life and a person's ability to use it is pointless, foolish, and greedy. I have never heard one lecture or read one passage or had any proof given to justify the pointless over accumulation of possessions. On the other hand, I have often read where the pointless over accumulation of possessions is considered to be a form of mental illness.
edited to remove the word "justify" from the last sentance. -Borillar-

Really? Have you ever heard that it takes money to make money? Have you ever realized how much accumalated wealth it takes to get a business loan? Or should the next average Joe that wants to start a bookstore go around and try to borrow the $1.30 that everyone can spare because they have no extra money? that's a lot of people to borrow from. All of this money used to start businesses that employ vast amounts of people is borrowed for the most part. If nobody accumalates wealth to spare, then who are the money lenders? The investors that drive this great economy? Inventors? Researches that need funding to develop new life saving drugs?
The Government?
Where do you say that money comes from? Why do you think there is no such thing as a thriving economy and high standard of living in a communist society? Mental illness? Hardly. Why do you think there is always a brain drain on these communist nations? Because communism leaves no room for growth. Just long lines at the grocery store.
You say you've never heard a convincing argument of such, but look around you. That computer you are on was designed and built and the software programmed for the most part by pruivate investors that had "too much money". What did they do with their "too much money"? It went to the betterment of society as opposed to creating lines for scarce bread and butter and milk.
