I purchased 2 scooters from uBid.com before Thanksgiving to give my sons for Hanukkah. I decided to give the scooters to them on Thanksgiving weekend (nice weather). When they opened the scooters they looked NOTHING like the picture in the auction. They were cheap and plastic whereas the picture showed nice aluminum decks. They started falling apart that day and became unusable in a weeks time. We found pieces all over the place! I wrote to uBid customer service and they came back with "the product has only a 7 day warranty." What kind of warrabty is that? If I had waited until Hanukkah, I would've really been out of luck. I offered to eat the shipping costs, but they would not respond to any further emails. They MISREPRESENTED the product and gave a truly INFERIOR WARRANTY. Stay away from uBid.com (unless you're fond of bait and switch)!!

Been there also. Bought a foldable picnic table and it was nothing like what was represented in the photograph and even the description. Promptly called and returned it however because I had a sixth sense that they would try to weazle out of giving me my refund. If I were you I would have just returned the scooters right away but hindsight is always 20/20. I won't buy anything from them anymore either!

I bought a home theater system from ubid. It was a k 453 kit. the picture of the auction was awsome and the speks where awsome as well. when the ups hauled the 90 pound box, I looked at the picture of the mistreated Box, and they where not like the ones in the auction. I read the speks on the box and they didn't come close, so I rejected the 90 lb box. It took me 2 months to get my money. the auction closed at 200 and $100 for shipping. The only regunded 99.99 of the $300. Ot worked out fone after about 19 emails and phone calls

Wow...I guess I lucked out. I also ordered 2 scooters at about the same time and they were fine. They are aluminum and quite sturdy. I also ordered a DVD player from them and again it was just what I expected. In both cases I received the items within 3 days of the auction close. I will however be a little skeptical from now on.
Coming from all the business law classes on what the liability of a company for its products and rights of recision on a contract to purchase. Now, it has been awhile so, lawyers may be able to correct something, but the basic principles are here.
If you ever receive an item that you did not order, or are unhappy with the item. DO NOT use it! Once you begin to use the item that you feel is not what you ordered, no company (or its very rare) will take the item back or refund your money! If you use an item that you know is or appears faulty (contributory), you lose your rights also.
Once you use the item in any manner, you have completed the transaction contract by accepting the item(Offer and Acceptance). If you receive an item that for one reason or another is not what you expected, immediately pack the item back up and contact the company. In doing so, you have shown your intent in not accepting the item.
This is rough but, I sincerely hope it helps someone to know what their very basic rights are in receiving an item that they feel is not what they ordered.

I've purchased a few things from uBid and sometime ago had purchased from them a Thinkpad with a defective DVD player. According to them the supplier provided for the warranty (it was originally some unknown company but turned out later that it was supposed to be IBM). Well, after sending it to IBM they tell me that the unit had water damage and would not be covered under warranty. Since I purchased using a credit card (in my case it was Discover) I made sure I had my rights intact just in case it would get ugly. With that and a note from the IBM technician I was able to get an RMA and a credit from uBid.
My advice, if you purchase anything from uBid make sure you use a credit card to purchase it, and also make sure you have all the information you need before asking to return it. If it's hidden damage and the warranty provider (presuming under warranty) tells you it is not covered under warranty get a note from them to that effect (especially useful for computers and other high ticket items). If it's obvious damage get the RMA immediately, otherwise you run the risk of forfeiting your rights.

I bid on Scooters also.
I never recieved them, I bid on four of them. I needed them for christmas and I was billed proptly 110.03. I have only just now recieved my money back for the Items, I think Now it was a mixed blessing. Let me state this about the items marked Aroetek, They are Cheap chinese reproductions. They appear to have been stored for along time in a wet wharehouse. To resell these Items You will need to do exactly what Ubid does, By That I mean TOTALLY Misrepresent them. I think Ubid will survive until they have ripped off 2 or 3 people out of every ten, Or until people realize there is a site like this one to check up.
In Any case, You wont catch me bidding on thier site again.
Oh! I have I have a suspicion that they are linked to other auctions in some way. Perhaps just through that leaky whare house. If You happen to be curious Look at DealDeal Real quick. I had a run in with them also. they shut thier auction site down for repairs on my closeing day and stayed down for seven days! Then told me they had lost my registration and credit card number!
I feel stupid now for giveing my number to them at all.
Be careful out thier, and when you get Burnt, Dont just take it as a loss, It keeps them in Buisness if you do that! Release The Hounds!
