After 12 successful transactions on EBAY PayPAL froze my account. I did nothing wrong claimed no fraud, in fact what they did is fould up two purchases that I had been high bidder on - no problem for me, but now EBAY thinks I am a deadbeat. (Actually my ratings as a buyer are impeccable.) Write your U.S. Senators and Congressman about being accused of fraud and invasion of privacy. What does PAYPAL want from me. 1) A copy of my current drivers license (which happens to contain my social security number), 2) a copy of my most recent utility bill, 3) a copy of my most recent credit card statement. (I don't know - are they try to see what I bought from Victoria's Secret?) This is all an invasion of privacy. I am writing letters, emails flood Capitol Hill so emails are hardly worth it. I am writing the finance committees, the SEC, the Dept. of Commerce (which regulates Interstate Commerce). Yes, we can all join in a class action suit but we can also get the U.S. Congressional Members involved. PayPal, wants my utility bill? I am not seeking a mortgage on my house, I have been buying items under $100 on Ebay, except know that payment mechanism is no longer available. Come on folks lets not just get beat up, write some letters and emails to your Congressional Members and deal with them as the consumers we are. We do have rights. For me. I am cancelling the credit card that they have in their possession (the numbers that is) since they won't cancel my account. What kind of free choice is this, we won't cancel your account, even though we don't think you did anything fraudulent, and we want your drivers license and utility bill. Oh, and two days ago they wanted the number of my checking account. Hey, it they want to pay for a credit report from a TRW or a credit reporting service they can do that - they are just too cheap to try and do it that way. LET'S TAKE SOME ACTION - FLOOD YOUR CONGRESSIONAL MEMBERS IF YOU HAVE A COMPLAINT.

It seems highly unlikely that you have selected a technique which will be effective in getting your problem fixed.

I suggest you simply send the information.

I have noted that Paypals representitives have been scarce lately on the Paypal forum....

I wonder what's going on....

I'd have probably been out on a stress-medical a long time ago...

With the number of "free" dot-coms that are now folding mere months after their institution of fees, PP (and AW for that matter) bear close scrutiny...

Remember, no one cares as much about your money as you do...

Having said that, I would conditionally agree with roofguy....PP isn't going to unfreeze your account without meeting their critieria. In the past, PPD has helped those whose accounts have been frozen due to "clerical error" and, if this is the case with yours, resolving it shouldn't involve dissemination of your personal info...

My PP account remains frozen...by me.....maybe the ice age will be over soon..

Well, maybe you all are correct, but I am writing the Chairmen and women of all of the House and Senate committees. I am a buyer. They want my checking account number, a copy of my driver's license, a copy of my utility bill, and my most recent credit card statement. I am cancelling the credit card - declaring it as missing in action and misused by calling the credit card company. I have done not one thing wrong and I have complied with all of the terms of having signed up for PAYPAL. However, the letters to dozens of congressional members are still being sent out. Businesses have had their accounts frozen and assets held. I am a lowly buyer of Ebay auction items. Sit on your hands if you want and you are correct, once they no longer have a valid credit card number I could not care less - except that there is a principle involved here - one of fundamental fairness.

OTOH...would it be far less stressful to just simply not use PP??

None of these online pmt options work perfectly 100% of the time! PP gets the lion share of complaints because they are #1 and because they (it seems) hire HS drop-outs for CS who don't give a...

Twould appear thee is obsessing a wee bit

Hi nofriendpaypal,

I would like to assist you with your matter, but you have not provided an account email address to me. I do need this information to see why the account was restricted.

NOFRIENDPAYPAL -

IGNORE ALL replies from roofguy. He NEVER has anything of any value to add to these forums. That is clueless and he is not answered honestly in direct questions. He has also never fessed up to his obvious affiliation with that company of which I don't need to mention.

So don't be dis-illusioned by him, You are doing the right thing by letting EVERYBODY on planet Earth know what is going on and how you were affected like so many of us.

Good work!!!!!

Hi fishbone,

I am repeating the same information in the post I just responded to...

Roofguy, to the best of my knowledge, is not a PayPal employee. Company policy prohibits employees from posting without the consent of the Communications department.

"SAVE" (& PRINT, if POSS!) ALL E-MAILS FROM PAY-PAL, eBayCS & "Safe-Harbor?", Sellers, Etc. CC or BCC all Pertinent E-Mails to your Local US Representative & BOTH US Senators. This stuff IS being investigated by the US DOJ & Congessional Committees. They hear the PR of eBay & other CEO's, Mgmt., PR Flacks, & Attorneys; let them REALLY READ HARD COPY FROM THEIR POLICIES, DEMANDS, & EDICTS. Use "Multiple-ID's" that eBay Condones and Registers to Sellers & Buyers. Remember the CA Attorney (CLUE!) and all his "Shill-Ring" of Buddies the Feds caught on eBay Selling FAKE PAINTINGS & ART ? They had over 32 "eBay-Multiple-ID's" If you are Honest (We Presume you are), & Frauds & Crooks use "Multi-ID's" from eBay, why can't you? If you are a Company, have your Management and Employees ALL Register on eBay with ID's. same with Mom & Pop, Brother & Sisters, Cousins. Don't do anything Illegal; just don't let eBay or PayPal or others do a number on you. If a Buyer doesn't Pay, it's 30 Cents a a few Minutes to re-List an Item for a Seller. The Buyer who does not Option for "Tracking Fees" or "Insurance" (Ever Notice the difference in CHARGED Postage & NO "Insurance" stamped by the USPS after Seller DEMANDS this?) Gets shafted by the Seller who says: "Hey, I shipped the Item; we warned the Buyer we are not Responsible (TRUE, but Virtually and Ethically) for MISSING or LOST PACKAGES!" Also LIST ALL NON-SHIPPING PAID SELLERS ID's Below your Signature on ALL your E-Mails! No eBay Protection, no Government Protection; Warn your eBay Friends; use "ALLEGED-NON-SHIPPING-PAID-SELLER" as an Non-Libelous "Negative-Feedback" on your E-Mails. If eBay E-Mails you that you cannot do this or they will Suspend You, the VICTIM! Print their E-Mail & Forward them to your US Rep to congress a Both (2) US Senators. Give 'em Sumthin' besides Corporate PR to consider. I was AGAINST (DEM-Mass) US Sen.John Kerry's 5% Internet Retail Federal sales Tax & Fed. Oversight. NOW I WANT FEDS INSIDE EACH INTERNET AUCTION HOUSE! It's either that, or we Contact our Ol' Mil. Buddies to make "House-Calls"! Don't give in to Turkeys! We see how eBay treated YOU. CYA ain't gonna cut it with the Feds. PayPal, Etc., need to be under Fed. & State Banking, FCC, & FTC Controls. If they "Goof" & Blame you, I consider that a form of Wire Fraud. Last thing: Do NOT USE DEBIT CHECKING or CREDIT CARDS on the Internet (or Anywhere); if they won't take your Check, they won't get your BID! Lotsa sellers on eBay LOUDLY PROCLAIMING: NO PAYPAL, PERIOD! Stay away from TRW & any "ALLEGED" Blackmailers, Extortionists & Intimidators! IT'S YOUR MONEY! IT"S YOUR LIFE! IT"S YOUR CREDIT RATING! IT"S YOUR REPUTATION! You aren't the one "ALLEGEDLY", per the Media, Shipping Priceless Antique Furniture & Art out of a FAMOUS HISTORICAL DC ADDRESS! Run your Life like it is a Business! (And "CC" the Info to your Pols!)

This is my 1st visit to AW. The biggest complaint is how YOU are getting ripped off by the "small guy" (Paypal, etc..) and you need to write to Congress and let them know. BUT YET THE GOVERNMENT IS RUNNING THE BIGGEST SCAM IN HISTORY RIPPING YOU OFF AND YOU DON'T CARE !!! They steal thousands of dollars a year from you and you want to get them involved in auction sites too. I don't even come close to knowing what the answer is to stopping the fraud on the internet. I myself have lost several hundred dollars with no chance of recovery, but I can GUARANTEE I will NEVER ask the goverenment to get involved. TWO questions... #1 Do you have a job? Then the government is STEALING money from you DAILY. And why the public continues to ignore this, is beyond me. (and no I am not a fruitcake) I myself just became aware of this fact. And #2 if you don't think the government is running the biggest scam in HISTORY then I have beautiful beachfront property I would like to talk to you about.

Personally, I'm here because I'm conerned about a potentially risky business practice. Before I believe that ZOG is ripping me off, you'll have to convince me that it even exists.

FWIW, I've been lurking here for some time . . . and I still use PayPal. On balance, it seems one of the best options out there.

I've seen complaints from sellers about chargebacks, but chargebacks can happen with any credit card transaction. Heck, I use Visa/MC specifically *because* I can deny a charge for an unsatisfactory product.

I've seen complaints from buyers, but I don't often see the cause(s). This thread is an exception -- I'd kind of like to learn more of the details surrounding NOFRIENDPAYPAL's dispute. I was hoping to, but it's all degenerated into name-calling.

Serious question: are there specific, documented PayPal practices or policies that endanger buyers like me? I really do want to know if there are.

The User that started this thread has had that particular I.D. suspended. Since they cannot participate with that name in this thread and they can't have 2 I.D.'s going at one time, I'm going to locke this up.
