We can Postmark a Payment Envelope to England and Receive an eBay Seller's Item in a 6-8 Day Turnaround Timespan. Australian shipper says 1st Class Air Mail to USA is about 1 Week. I'm having Ridiculously Long Shipping Times (for more Postage than from the UK) from Ontario, Canada. What's going on here? We get Packages in 1-2 days 1st Class USPS from Buffalo, just across the Bridge! -PJ38-

I airmailed a package from the USA to a very patient buyer in Ontario, Canada. Here's what he told me when I apologized for the 2 week transit time:
"Once it gets to Canada, Canada Customs and Revenue Agency take their sweet time in holding up packages to process Customs import documents to justify a $5.00 Canadian handling fee plus any applicable taxes and duties; usually several days to a week. Then the parcels get released to Canada Post for delivery, or, should I say held ransom for several more days, until they mail a notice to you to come pick it up at a post office and pay your bill. Bureacracy in action at its best here in Canada."
What was really shocking to me was that another package, mailed to the Channel Isles, UK at the same time & post office, took less that 2 (yes, TWO) business days to be delivered!
