Hi all,
I am asking this for my boyfriend.
He is about to do a trade with someone in Romania.
This rings bells off the top of my head. The seller says his dad is ill and wants a PDA to use for his cell phone business. He wants to trade a Yaesu ham radio rig for the PDA.
He gave my boyfriend his full contact info. His domain name is with nwonline.net, which is a US based company (doesn't mean much, but you never know).
Is there anything my boyfriend should know when dealing with Romania? Is there a certain amount that the Romanian post office will not insure for, idiosyncracies? Things to watch out for? Does it offer tracking?
I suggested that he wait for the radio to come before sending out his PDA. And making sure the radio works.
Personally I am wary and aloof but I do not want to see my boyfriend hurt. Please let me know if there is something he should know.

Thanks Trai!
Run he did! There were so many suspicious things about it that I'm relieved he dropped it (sometimes he can be a little stubborn).
Naturally the guy in Romania wanted my boyfriend to send his PDA first. He wouldn't (whew!) and on and on and on...I kept telling my boyfriend to just cancel the deal, but as I said, he's a little stubborn
Happily nothing was sent and I am so relieved about it.

Trai - no, he's not Germanic second generation Irish/Swedish I would say I am one of the most aloof and skeptical people you'll ever meet maybe because I am constantly debunking hoaxes and chain mails And yup, he is grateful to me He was burned as a teenager as well on a radio, no hobby is safe.
Tom - Thank you for the post about the woman and the video camera. Maybe it's just me, but if I have to go a seller in Romania, it's too good to be true! I copied her post and emailed it to my boyfriend.
The funny thing is that the guy who wanted my boyfriend's PDA said the same thing - he would send the package and then the tracking number via email.
The whole thing stank from the start and I'm just glad my sweetpea is one of the ones who got away
