Hello out there,

I am just curious if anyone has had any issues with C2it as far as fraud protection and whatnot...

Case in point, I used C2it to make a transaction in January. Turns out that the guy was a fraud, and I was scammed out of $325. Initially he wanted me to send the money via money order to a house address, but I wanted to use my credit card and have a paper trail of the transaction in case something happened (smart move on my part, right? Guess not). In any case, the guy turns out to be a fraud, he closes his email acct, etc etc and I can't get ahold of him. Now creating a C2it account is almost like breaking into Ft Knox. Next to impossible. So you'd think that they'd have enough information on file (credit card, bank acct, etc etc) to help me out now that I've been robbed. However, when I went through their dispute resolution, they happily point out that they are just a "go between between buyer and seller" and have nothing to do with disputes. I should contact the seller, the letter I received says. However, on their website it says that fradulant transactions are protected up to the limits of the credit card you use. Well, silly me, I used my Citibank credit card, thinking that I'd have double protection via both C2it and Citibank. Holy hell was I wrong. I disputed the charge through both C2it and my Mastercard Citibank card, however I received the same generic "Sorry, it's your fault... we're innocent" letter for both complaints.

Has anyone else dealt with these clowns? I've had plenty of transactions go smoothly -- but I was the seller each time (and this was before they started charging for transactions). Now that I've gotten swindled, I feel a little foolish for trusting citibank at all. Any advice would be greatly appreciated...

Thanks in advance!

what did you buy from him and how long ago and did you receive the goods??
you should win the chargeback from c2it and it is c2it problem that they cannot recover from this seller.
you should call citibank customer service and insist to win this chargeback if you did not receive the goods/
just because they are both part of the same corporation does not mean they can cover each other ass.

I made the purchase in mid-January, it was a PS2 system w/ some accessories, nothing was ever received. I have all the email communications, down to the physical address the guy originally wanted me to send the money order to...

I would think the chargeback would work, but so far, 3 communications later, I've gotten generic "Sorry, c2it is not responsible for buyer/seller relationship" letters in response.

I'd be the first to admit it if I thought I screwed up majorly and didn't do something right, but in this case I think I took all of the precautions I could possibly take, just short of asking for a person-to-person transaction. C2it had to send the money I transferred somewhere, right? So why can they not help in the buyer/seller relationship, since they have to confirm the account when it's created?

Doesn't make sense, and I want to know if anyone else has had this problem. I can't be the only one out here...
