On May 8th I requested a check for $70. from my Pay Pal account and although the status of that request showed "confirmed" on May 9th, I never got a check. A Pay Pal support member named Shane emailed me when I first reported not receiving a check and I was told to contact Pay Pal again if it hadn't show up by the 22nd. I emailed Shane on the 22rd and I've also emailed general customer support but I've received no replies (other than the automated "We've received your email" responses). Does anyone know which California authorities I'll need to contact if I don't hear from Pay Pal soon?

I requested a check this month, was told it would take two weeks and had it in three days. I have nothing but good things to say about PayPal

Hi Deb, I hope your good luck continues. I received several prompt payments prior to this but Pay Pal isn't even emailing me back regarding my 70 bucks. An x-com support member gave me an (800) number for Pay Pal but so far it hasn't been of any help because the number is continously busy during all business hours. I checked a few other boards and saw that unfortunately, I'm not the first person in this boat.

I have been using pay pal and x.com for 5-6 months without incident. I am thrilled about x.com and very happy with pay pal. They have increased my sales by 35% and have accelerated the payment/shipping process by as much as 80%. My Customers have been thrilled (read my feedback) . ebay id: jcents
And as it costs nothing , you get what you pay for! Paypal has been bought by x.com and I am sure that merger has not gone off without a hitch.
I find the soapbox and other places where people can complain about everything are just that, gripe sessions..(usually unfounded, but anyone can find a reason to Complain about anything) If there was any true problem with either of the two services why would they gain 3000-5000+ new customers each week?
Look Folks PayPal is a wonderful "NEW" business and as with all new businesses there will be glitches. LIGHTEN UP FOLKS!

First off I want to say that though I am currently furious at Paypal for screwing up my account, I think the problem is inadequate customer service> I dont think any money has been misappropriated by Paypal. I also had a very active account and was thrilled with Paypal until they screwed it up. Now people send me money, we both get confirmations and the money never shows up. The senders can still go back into their accounts, cancel and get their money back. But Paypal had better get their act together because the screw ups are coming fast and furious. I have been waiting over two weeks for a reply to at least 4 phone calls. I was promised someone would call me within 24 hours. I forgot to ask 24 hours of what. As to the emails, I keep getting replies that dont address the problem. In the meantime there is Payme and Payplace, both free and both working.

and like a brick and mortar bank has NEVER made the mistakes like the ones listed above....
and like credit card companies have NEVER screwed up...
and like checks NEVER get lost in the mail...
and like merchant accounts NEVER make errors...
and god forbid you folks have NEVER made a mistake in your lives....
GET Real this is life..
I am sure if you all quit posting complaints, and use your time more wisely investigating where your moneys are, and trying to fix the problem rather than complaing about it,You would all be better served.
Remember: You are either part of the solution or part of the problem. Your choice...

Of course Pay Pal isn't infallible but they are in dire need of a larger customer support network when emails go unanswered, their phone lines are always tied up, and problems aren't being resolved.
"I am sure if you all quit posting complaints, and use your time more wisely investigating where your moneys are,..."
Posting my complaint to this message board was definately the wisest way to investigate where MY money was- It wasn't until I posted here and a Pay Pal support member saw the post and contacted me that there was even the start of a solution to my problem.
Thanks Jennifer for forwarding my info to a supervisor and thanks Auction Watch for providing this board to us where we can freely post our complaints.

No, not yet but on June 1st they said they'd issued a stop-payment on the check I requested on 5/8 and that another one was issued so hopefully it will be here soon.

Some advise, get a checking account, some banks give free checking accounts if you have direct depositing, no matter how much each month. Then have your money directly deposited, I have never ran into any problems with this. Every time the money has been there within 3 "business" days, and you don't have to wait all this 2-3 week crap!!!

Would it matter if one requested a paper check or a 'direct deposit' to a checking account, if Paypal never issued the payment? Isn't that what happened here -- the payment was never issued? It was never received, so has it been reissued?
I'm not using Paypal anymore. This is scary stuff!

I've used Paypal only three times and only the first one worked. The last time it was like pulling teeth to get money from them. This time my account is locked so that I can't get money out although they are very happy to send me email telling me there's money in there. Oh, and yes I did sign up for direct deposit.
I've asked my buyer to request a refund from Paypal and just send me a check in the mail. I hope she doesn't get burnt by them like I have.
