There are plenty alternatives to Vendio, many cheaper. The Vendio advantage has been reliabilty. This has been seriously compromised in the last few days. One could assume one is entitled to what they pay for, but they have agreed to absolve Vendio from almost any liability in outages in the user agreement. To protect yourself - have a back-up plan in place. IMHO, Ebay tools (sales Manager Pro, Turbolister) are excellent alternatives. Has the Auction watcher press gotten wind of the Vendio problems?

Inkfrog.com is a good alternative, cheaper and no final value fee.
Auctiva is another.
It's easy for Vendio to apologize and promise to do better, but they should have issued refunds or credits when they failed to perform to standard, and they did not.
Therefore they should not be surprised if they lose customers.

The last few days should be the last few months. Vendio has been slow and clunky. It is most likely because they are working on Vendio but if it is causing so many problems, why do it during prime time 6am to 11pm west coast time. why not after 12pm and before 5am. 8hrs for a techie is 8 hrs night or day. Why stomp all over your own customers during prime usage time every day.

I have been with Vendio since it was AuctionWatch. The service here used to be second to NONE. That is a thing of the past.

I've hung on because I have literally years of work invested here and the thought of starting over was almost more than I could handle.

The time has now come for me and Vendio to part ways.

Does anyone know if Inkfrog will import from turbolister?

A lot depends on the volume of images you want to be hosted. Inkfrog is very nice,I have some of my legacy Sparedollar images hosted there. When I consider my current volume, Vendio is the better bargain. I think all image hosters and listing services have their bad days. I know that Auctiva images were not showing up on some listings a while back. I can't see a trend in unreliable service from Vendio, but hope that this disasterous episode is not a precursor to one.

On my second listing id I use Turbolister and Go Daddy for image hosting.

After the last mess with Vendio, I have downloaded my other selling id ebay items to Turbolister but I have about 10,000 items in my vendio store. If I didn't I might go to Auctionworks (which is now Marketworks). They don't think they can move the vendio items to their platform.

I think this acquisition of andale might be part of the problem. Hopefully Vendio will get its act together shortly.

That would be great if Vendio lost customers. The impatient, rude, greedy customer is never an asset.

ADAM: I hope you were being facetious. Few of the vd'ers that post regularly meet the conditions of your statement. Let us not confuse a disappointed customer with your description.

I have a close relative that has been with Disney for over 25 years. They spend a great deal of time on "customer recovery". Basically they believe there are very few customers that are not worth retaining.

The people here are good, having supported VD for quite a while.

I was being serious. I worked at in the nightclub industry for 15 years straight, and I can tell you "customer recovery" depends on the business. Sometimes it's just not worth it to recover a customer who is never satisfied, no matter what a company does. There's a limit, and I was referring to the "disappointed" customers who have foul language, bad attitudes and are trying to just vent their anger when this forum is for (I thought) making this service the best possible. Don't forget the title of this thread is "Alternative to Vendio" when Vendio is paying to host this forum.

Contingency planning Adam.

And, it is good business policy not to be subject to the power of the supplier. That only happens when you can develop another source of supply.

As for the nightclub business, I would imagine loyalty might not be a critical component of your competitive strategy. As the public is very fickle in that industry.

However, for this business, loyalty is very important as is word of mouth. Customer retention is more important for Vendio when the cost to OBTAIN a customer is much higher than the local nightclub.

IMO...
