Hello, I went to retrieve some old auctions that had been archived, and see that there are none there....I doubled checked my settings, and sure enough, it's set to 12 weeks. I'm sure I have deleted auctions in the last 12 weeks. Ant reasonable explanation would be nice. Thanks

Hello,

The page you are referring to is where you can restore auctions that have been archived only within the past 12 weeks. Any items that have been archived longer ago would have since been moved over to the actual archived data system.

If you have an item that you feel you only just recently archived but are unable to locate it, let us know the item number and we'll track its history for you.

Christopher

I know how it works, and I can't give you a particular auction, but I retrived an old action on Friday, and many were present in the archives, now there are none, and I did not delete them. Why would they just disappear, if they have been in there for less than 12 weeks, and I did not delete them?

Hello,

Items do not remain available for restoring for 12 weeks, they are only available for 2 weeks after being archived initially.

Here is the note from the bottom of that page:

Please note: items are only available for restoration for 2 weeks after they are originally archived. If you need to restore any items, please do so as soon as possible. Restored items will be auto-archived again if they are older than the auto-archive setting specified.

The only way you could clear items from this page prior to the 2 weeks being up, would be if an import was triggered as this would force the system to bring these items back into your account. (if there is ANY particular item that you know of, try locating it in your closed list instead.)

Christopher

Is this a recent change you folks made? As I seem to remember items staying in my archives for more that 2 weeks. And why would there be a setting for keeping them for 12 weeks if you can only keep them for 2? Maybe I'm confused, but that doesn't seem to make much sense.

Hello,

Your thinking about the setting for sending the items into the auto-archive tool, not how long items that happen to have been archived remain available to be restored back into the account itself.

You can still adjust your automatic archive settings via the My Account page using the Global Preferences link found within. The max setting is for 12 weeks, which is where your probably getting that number from.

The amount of time after an item has been archived, in which you can still restore it back to the account, has always been 2 weeks.

If however the item is still active on eBay, you can still use the 'track/import' tool to bring the item back into your account using the item number. It will pull that out of the archives (essentially) and restore it back to your account to do with as needed.
If the item is no longer available at eBay (older than 60 days) you would not be able to use that trick.

Regards,
Christopher
