I read this information in Auctionbytes (8/5/07) with some concern. I and many of us have waited for almost a year for Vendio to bring the shipping options up to date with ebay.
The article states:
"eBay told developers on Monday that two new sorting options for Search results, PricePlusShippingAsc and PricePlusShippingDesc, are currently in testing on the eBay site. If the tests are successful, the sorting options will be enabled in (GetSearchResults, GetCategoryListings and FindItemsAdvanced) by September 2007.
Detailed behavior of the new sorting options includes:
PricePlusShippingAsc Sort: Items will appear in the order of lowest-total-cost (for items where shipping was properly specified), then freight-shipping items, then items for which shipping was not specified (sorted by price).
PricePlusShippingDesc Sort: Items will appear in the order of highest-total-cost (for items where shipping was properly specified), then freight-shipping items, then items for which shipping was not specified (sorted by price)."
There are no announcements available at this time specific to what you read about eBay's new tools they are testing currently.
While Vendio doesn't support 100% of the available shipping options at eBay, you CAN specify your shipping costs either fixed or calculated and those would map to the fields eBay uses for these new sorting options.
Technically they are just taking what is already supported by us both, which is displaying your shipping costs and placing them onto the search pages, and adding an option to sort not only by price - but by the total cost + shipping. (vs simply displaying the shipping costs beside the price, even when sorting by such.)

That is correct. Herein lies the problem - ebay can display separate shipping to Canada, and other International points, while Vendio can not. If you want to specify flat rate shipping to Canada it would have to be the same for other global points. Then the seller would have two choices - (1) over charging for USPS to Canada, or (2) under charging for global shipping. Please remember that shipping to Canada and Mexico have lower rates than the other International rates.
Of course, I could always use calculated shipping. However, the current system does not combine weights very well. I guess I could always stay up all night to handle international sales. I'm not sure how long I could do that.
This is a real pain. I thought this was going to be fixed.
