I'm not sure if this is some temporary thing, but when I go to Vendio.Com (and I'm remembered), I click on the "Go to Sales Manager", and usually that's where I go. Yesterday and today, I've logged in, and when I click on the "Go to Sales Manager", I go to a screen that basically is for people that have not signed up and shows what Vendio has to offer. Can you please get rid of that screen. I'm already a paying customer, and when I click on the sales manager link, that's where I want to go.

Hello,

I have tried to duplicate this problem on my computer, but I have been unable to do so. Have you tried simply clearing your browser cache? If that did not help, please let me know what browser and version you are using, so that I can duplicate this problem on my computer.

Regards,
Nathan

It appears to be solved without intervention. It did not happen this morning when I logged in.

Actually, I was going to post a new topic, but I think this one would is related:

What I'm finding is that the 7 day log in feature is not holding again, and I usually am taken to that screen each day or every other day off of my bookmark.

The page I have bookmarked is my sales manager page, but if the log-in isn't holding, it takes me to the newer home page that you guys designed.

So, what I was going to ask in a new post was:

wazzup with the 7 day sign-in again?

Not the world's biggest problem, but it's a little annoyance.

Hello sunnyjo,

This usually happens when the Vendio cookie (that is used to remember you) is deleted from your browser. You will want to make sure that your browser is not set to automatically delete your cookies (and also be careful not to manually delete them). If you continue to have trouble with this, please let me know which browser and version you are using.

Regards,
Nathan

Nope, it's not a cookie thing ... I don't mess with them and Vendio totally has cookie privileges with me!

Iuse Firefox (always have) and always use the latest version (automatically updates). Not sure which one I'm on now, but it happened both pre and post the latest update.

The sign-in "hold" is still unstable on your site, trust me.

I have to back up the previous poster.

Vendio is on also my settings as one of the sites for which to always retain cookies.
Since the 7 day sign-in was revamped,
I also need to resign in daily, where I never had to before.
I use Internet Explorer.

As previously stated, no biggie, just a minor annoyance.

Thanks,
Susan

Hello,

Are either of you logging out ever? If you do use the "Log Out" link, then you would need to log in again the next time you used Vendio.

For both of you, if I am going to try and duplicate the problem, I need to know what versions of Firefox and Internet Explorer you are using.

Also, what happens in the following scenarios, and does it always happen in the same way?

If you are logged in to Vendio, close your browser, and immediately reopen your browser, are you always logged out?

If you are logged in to Vendio, then go to a different website, then go back to Vendio. Are you always logged out?

If you are logged in to Vendio, you restart your computer, and then go back to Vendio. Are you always logged out?

Regards,
Nathan

OK -- I'm on Firefox 2.0.0.7. Before that, I was on whatever was before that ... it still did the same thing.

I never log out. I just close my browser. I know enough to know that if I log out, then I'd need to log back in.

To access Vendio, I use my bookmark. Same bookmark I've always had.

Honest -- I haven't changed a thing. What used to behave one way on your site (that I'm logged in for 7 days), now behaves another, that's all.

To your questions:

"If you are logged in to Vendio, close your browser, and immediately reopen your browser, are you always logged out?".

NO. I'M NOT NECESSARILY LOGGED OUT. I MIGHT BE.

If you are logged in to Vendio, then go to a different website, then go back to Vendio. Are you always logged out?

NO. I'M NOT NECESSARILY LOGGED OUT. I MIGHT BE.

If you are logged in to Vendio, you restart your computer, and then go back to Vendio. Are you always logged out?

NO. I'M NOT NECESSARILY LOGGED OUT. I MIGHT BE.

Not trying to be a smart aleck ... but there's not easy answer for you. It's one of those subtle changes to the website that started when you had that problem awhile back with having to log in all the time, and even after you "fixed" it, it didn't get completely fixed ... it's not bug free.

I usually get about 48 hours before the home screen comes back up, but sometimes I can get it twice in one day.

That's all I'm sayin'.

Hello,

Rather than using your Vendio bookmark, try typing http://www.vendio.com into your browser instead, and see if that helps.

Also, in Firefox, go to "Tools" --> "Options" --> make sure that "Accept cookies from sites" is checked --> also make sure that "They expire" is selected next to "Keep until". If you ever choose the option to "Clear Private Data", be sure that "Cookies" is unchecked. Also be sure that the option "Always clear my private date when I close Firefox" is *not* checked, and the option "Always ask me before clearing private date" *is* checked.

Nathan

As much as I know you guys are trying to help, this is the very thing that really frustrates the user community of a site (people who, whether you want to acknowledge it or not, know more about how your site works than you do as far as end user capabilities) ... you're suggesting I do (or undo) a bunch of stuff I've always (or never) done in order to not see a problem that the SITE is having, not my computer!

Look, really, it's a minor thing, but all we were trying to do here was to tell you that something your techs might think is working ... isn't.

I'm not interested in going through a bunch of hoops to figure out why something that shouldn't be wrong, is wrong. And I'm sure not going to give up my handy bookmark so that I can type in your url every time! If that's the "solution", than obviously I'm just as well off to do what I'm now stuck doing and just log in every day.

I can't believe anyone would ask me to go through a bazillion steps and setting checks when I haven't altered a single setting regarding Vendio on my computer in years.

As my old boyfriends were so fond of saying: "It's not me, it's you."

No. If I log out, I know that I have to log in again.

Version? I am lucky to know it is IE. :-Y It is probably the most recent one, as the computer is less than 12 months old.

Hello,

Sunnyjo, no problem. We would appreciate it if you could help us narrow down the problem, but if you are not interested we understand. Unfortunately, we have been unable to duplicate the problem. Since you are able to see the problem, it would be helpful if you could help us determine what is causing it. If you get a chance to check your Firefox settings, please let me know if they are already set the way that I suggested. And if not, if changing them to those settings makes any difference. Also, I am not asking you to stop using bookmarks. However, checking to see if the problem persists when entering the website URL directly would help narrow down the problem. Also, it probably isn't relevant, but what operating system are you using?

Wgonzales, you can check what version of Internet Explorer you are using by going to "Help" --> "About Internet Explorer". Are you using AOL, by any chance? Also, what operating system are you using?

Regards,
Nathan

Thanks. It is version 7.0.

I have a Dell E520. (Is that what you mean by operating system?)

No, never use AOL.

Hello Susan,

In Internet Explorer go to "Tools" --> "Internet Options" --> "Privacy" tab --> "Sites" --> type "http://www.vendio.com" into the "Address of website" field --> click "Allow" --> Click "OK" --> Click "OK". Then let us know if that makes any difference.

By operating system, I mean what type of Windows are you using? For example: XP, Vista, ME, 2000, 98, etc.

Nathan

Oh, alright, make me feel guilty. LOL

I'm on windows XP.

My cookies setting vis-a-vis expiration was on "ask me every time". I changed it to "until I say so" or whatever, and I'll have to see if it makes a difference.

Since the bookmark is so convenient, I'll try to remember to spend a week going in via the browser bar, but I know that I won't do it exclusive of the bookmark since I've been going into Vendio probably 5 times a day or more every day for however many days I've been registered.

But I'll try.

Hello sunnyjo,

Yes. Some of us work remotely from time to time and can test this on regular home computers using regular commercial connections. (technically it shouldn't matter, but just to be sure we do test both when reports such as come in.)

Hi Nathan,
I went in and retyped the full url as you suggested, but there is no change. That is probably because my settings have already been set as you suggest. They always have been.

I believe that it is XP.

Hello Susan,

Are you going to the website through a bookmark as well? Or are you typing the website URL into your browser every time you go to Vendio?

Have been trying it in this week, just to see what happens, but no difference (except for the extra typing).
Have also tried resetting the bookmark.

Hello Susan,

Please take the following steps:

1. Open Internet Explorer and go to http://www.vendio.com. Log in the your account and select the option to be remembered for 7 days.
2. Close Internet Explorer.
3. Reopen Internet Explorer.
4. Go to http://www.vendio.com and verify that you can get to your account without logging in again.
5. In Internet Explorer, go to "Tools" --> "Internet Options" --> the "General" tab --> the "Browsing History" section --> the "Settings" button --> the "View Files" button --> you will notice various headers near the top, click on the "Name" header (this will sort the files in alphabetical order) --> scroll down the list and find a file named "cookie:wgonzales@vendio". Verify that a file by that name does exist.
6. Close Internet Explorer and reboot your computer.
7. Open Internet Explorer. Do NOT go to the Vendio website. Instead, go to "Tools" --> "Internet Options" --> the "General" tab --> the "Browsing History" section --> the "Settings" button --> the "View Files" button --> you will notice various headers near the top, click on the "Name" header (this will sort the files in alphabetical order) --> scroll down the list and see if there is a file named "cookie:wgonzales@vendio".
8. Type http://www.vendio.com into your browser and see if you are still logged in.

Then let me know if you were still logged in after completing step 4. Also let me know if a file with the name "cookie:wgonzales@vendio" existing when you looked for it in step 5. Also let me know if a file with that name existed when you looked for it in step 7. Also let me know if you were still logged in to Vendio in step 8.

Thank you for your patience and assistance.

Regards,
Nathan

Hi Nathan,
Remember this thread?
I finally got back to it myself and just tried the previous steps:

I was logged on for step 4.
There was no file titled "cookie:wgonzales@vendio" in step 5 or step 7.
I was NOT logged on in step 8.

Closest files I found were titled "cookie:[email protected]" and "cookie:[email protected]".
But I have never used "susan" on any sign-in field. Don't know if that info may help.

Any ideas?

Susan

Sunnyjo- I use Firefox too and I have to sign in every day - but I have chosen to clear my cache and cookies everytime I close Firefox. Perhaps you inadvertently have done the same thing. Under the "Tools" tab at the top of the browser, click on "Options" and then "Privacy Tab". Check to make sure that you have UNCHECKED the box to clear private information and CHECKED the box to check with you before clearing data (I have chosen to clear my data so BOTH boxes are checked for me)

When you close Firefox (after you have checked the second box) you should get this message - make sure the "cookies" box is UNCHECKED:

Nathan,

The suggestions from Neglus were to sunnyjo.

I don't have firefox; I am on XP.

https://secure.vendio.com/login.html?ret=http%3A%2F%2Fwsacp.vendio.com%2Fmy%2Facp%2F

for the login page and

http://wsacp.vendio.com/my/acp/

for my control panel.
I was just using the link to my control panel for eons and signing in weekly until
things changed. Now I go right to the login page any time the computer gets turned on or restarted to avoid the double click to sign in.

I don't know if this will help but I had the same problem until I noticed that in the upper right corner of the log in screen there is a link to " Back to my services" which takes me to the sales manager screen without having to log back in. Could this be what people are having a problem with?
